Bride Wars is all that is wrong and retarded with the movie industry. The beautiful Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway play best friends who accidentally have their weddings booked on the same day. Since getting married is apparently all they’ve ever aspired to do neither will give up the date or location. They both decide not to be each other’s maids of honor and then proceed to do horrible stuff to each other. And although some of that stuff is kind of entertaining most of it is just annoying and not funny at all, actually it is a bit on the sad side. It’s two women who are so selfish that they become complete shrews so that their day can be the best.
This movie portrays woman as pretty shallow with only one care in their heads. It tries to show the wedding industry as both cutthroat and sweet. It is lame. Gary Winick also directed 13 Going On 30, and that was a cute little charmer. This is not that, even with Hudson and Hathaway who are both usually quite fun to watch on screen, this is just painful. I don’t recommend this to anyone; it is full of stereotypes that aren’t funny. It’s a comedy about friendship, but no true friendship would ever react this way. It is just too preposterous of a premise to be even slightly believable, and the characters are not likeable.
