"Miao Miao" explores an emotional terrain enhanced by tremendous lead performances from the young stars and stylish visions of urban Taipei. Miao Miao is a shy exchange student from Japan. Struggling to adjust to her new life in Taipei, she finally opens up to one of her female classmates Ai, an extroverted and charming girl, who becomes increasingly enamored with her new friend. Unaware of Ai's confused feelings for her, Miao Miao falls for the brooding CD shop owner Chen Fei; he's a young man with a secret past who seems determined to block out everything and everyone with a pair of headphones playing nothing. Miao Miao makes it her mission to win him over and uncover what past sadness has led him to hate music.
