Vince Vaughn, who shot to stardom with "Swingers," plays a rising lawyer who, after his wife suddenly leaves him and their son, wrestles with the responsibilities of single fatherhood. Fired from his big-city legal career while trying to juggle duties, he takes a lesser position in rural Kansas, where he struggles to accept a life he never planned for. He finds romance with a spirited local woman, but complications arise when the boy's mother comes to reclaim her son.
