I am thrilled to find small town entrepreneurs still have hope. This privately owned theatre is wonderful. Yes, they dont have corporate dollars to decorate lavishly but the prices are cheap and its comfortable. I did not encounter any rude or overly strict staff, I find the previous comments baffling! I am not local, this Floridian wishes continued success to the owners and vows support by frequenting the theatre when possible.
My wife and I attend movies here regularly and we are quite happy with the prices, atmosphere, concessions and friendly staff plus it is in a safe easy access loction.
terrible! seats are uncomfortable, rude staff, not good movie selctions, and my son was charged adult price even though he's clearly not an adult! when this was the only option is town, you could get away with that stuff but now competing with portsmouth and ashland, you'd think wheelersburg cinema would step up their game!! *and to the lady who posted we should see what the new owners have done*i have, and not impressed*
Things have change for the best since the new owners . they have made tremendous changes the place is clean customer service is great . If you havent been there in a while go back and see for yourself you will be pleased.
I think the theater should look into joining Cinemark.
With Cinemarks money and their prices it will be the best thing for Scioto County or even Wheelerburg.
They show the movies about two weeks after its released making prices around $1 - $2
A theater I know of that works well at is in Lynchburg, VA. (24502)
I totally agree with everyone else on here. I had been going to the Wheelersburg Cinema since I was a teenager (20 years ago) and I've seen it progressively go down hill especially over the past 5 years. The staff seem to get ruder and ruder! It's obvious they could care less about the future of the cinema. That's a shame, too. My family and I have been going to the cinema in Ashland for the past several years. It is much cleaner, much better movie selection, price breaks if you go at certain times, AND free refill on your large popcorn! More bang for the buck and MUCH better service!!!!!! My heart truly breaks that Wheelersburg cinema has come to this and I just hope that they eventually get a "back to the basics" approach where they put the needs of the customer first!
I was fifteen minutes late to see Transformers, and showed up to a locked door. I knocked a few times before some kid showed up and I asked if it was too late to see a movie. He replied that the box office was closed, and in a tone meant to make me feel stupid for asking. Zero stars. Oh well, no wonder they\'re going under. I\'ll take my business elsewhere.
When I worked there when it opened in 1976 it was a nice place. I havent been in 15 years to a movie anyplace. My son said it is so bad he drives from New Boston to Ashland to watch a movie. The owners should change things for the better since money is hard to come by you want to make a good impression and please people but I\'ve only heard bad things about the Wheelersburg Cinema for years. I logged on to see how much is cost for a 1pm or 3pm show and I see they do not put the price online so it still must be to much for me to take my grandaughter. We will wait until it comes out on DVD as usual to see a movie. I joined Netflix because I couldnt afford to go to the evening shows and I will stay with Netflix. I do not know how they stay open.
the employees are super-strict and rude. The food and tickets are overpriced. They dont really have a good selection of movies. and they dont have cup holders for the overpriced drinks!
