User reviews on West Shore Theatre
Yes, the West Shore has some inconveniences: cash only, one concession stand line, small restrooms, and sometimes badly scratched prints. And I was even there when the Spiderman reels were spliced together in the wrong order—that was truly bizarre!
Yet the West Shore is a great movie-going experience. It is a neighborhood theater surrounded by local bars and restaurants; the movie prices are great and the food/drinks very reasonable; it has a state-of-the-art sound system; charming décor; big screen; and comfortable seats. There is always a movie at 7 p.m. and a second feature at 9:00, so planning an evening is easy.
It is my understanding that they will be installing digital projecting equipment in spring/summer of 2014. That will eliminate having to watch a film with a green scratch down the middle or a feature out of sequence. With the move to digital, however, I will miss the occasional break and watching the film frame incinerate before our eyes.
I LOVE going to this theatre. I love the fact that when you go you feel like you're stepping back in time as you walk up to the teller to get your tickets, go through the big wood doors and walk inside. The interior has nice comfy seats and as you look around and up at the ceiling it's just beautiful. True, there is only a small concession stand and there's always a line but you can't forget that this IS just a family run theatre and not some big chain. Best of all, for about $10 you and a date can see a movie and get a popcorn -- you can't beat that!
I have been coming to this movie theater for 40 years. I remember the theater was always packed with kids at the Saturday matinee and you didn't need a parent to escort you. It cost .75 cent to get in and you could get candy for .25 cent. All these years later and the prices are still so low and it still remains pretty much the same inside. Still my #1 choice movie theater.
Always my first choice for a theater. They typically don't run movies when they first come out but I prefer to watch them here when they do weeks later. They have the lowest admission and concession prices and they are the ONLY theater with that nostalgic, old-time theater experience from when I was growing up. The owners are determined to keep prices low at their own expense. Highly recommended!
I wore my Spidey T-shirt to see The Amazing Spider-Man there last night. I had to ask a guy to stop talking to his GF during the movie then the movie skipped from towards the beginning to towards the end. Attendant said it skipped a reel & it would play. This really happened! I got my $ back & left. The bathrooms & concession stand are in this single theater. I hope you don't mind listening to people going to the bathroom & waiting until the long single line concession stand goes down before they will start the movie. Movies never start on time & they rush you out from the 1st show to let the second show in. I like to watch the credits since the majority of movies nowadays have scenes during & even after the credits. Management does not run this theater well & needs to make corrections. My evening was wasted last night & now I have to go somewhere else to see the movie. A big block buster that I've seen beginning & ending parts of kind of ruined it for me.
West Shore theatre is a great theatre for a "date night" or for a night out with the family. The movies are a few weeks out from being released, so if you can wait a few weeks to see a new movie you will save! The prices are like 1/3 the cost of the chain movie theatres. The food, drink and popcorn prices are especially low too. My husband and I have been going there for years and we LOVE this theatre! Highly recommend!
This is a wonderful theater! Nice big screen and plush, comfy seats. I'd prefer to see any movie here rather than a chain theater. Popcorn is great too!!
It is a great little movie theater that keeps prices low. Even though it gets the movie a month after it's premier, it's worth it for the low price.
