We went last night and it was a nice return to my childhood. We took my two younger children 14 and 10 so they'd have the chance to experience the Drive-In experience. Price good. Movie selection great. You need to get there early. We got there at 7:10 and parked in the 3rd row. It filled up for the next 90 minutes.
My smaller complaints are just observations and maybe it's me and not everyone else. Our family brought our baseball gloves and played catch for about an hour and then sat around outside our car. While sitting on our folding chairs just taking in the nice evening there was some dope with "Shane Rose Construction" on the side of his redneck 4WD pickup bellowing 93X hard rock from the back of his pickup. You could tell it was disturbing others and there were a couple of other families out there who clearly didn't want to listen to it. I mean, what ever happened to courtesy and thoughtfulness? You could hear it if you were 40 cars away and we had to endure it for over an hour. I'm a police officer myself and prefer to leave that at work if at all possible but it was very annoying frankly. But thanks Shane. We all really appreciated you sharing your choice of music with half the carloads at Vali-Hi.
Of course you couldn't get through the night without having to listen to the heavy thumping of a rap bass coming from someone elses vehicle to the rear of us some 100 feet. Neither was an issue during the playing of the features which showed these guys at least had an IQ of 50.
Are those big issues? No, but again, the era of thinking of other people is long gone. We now live in this rude "all about me" era. I guess I'd prefer to see Vali-Hi post signs to deal with this and send the on-duty Washington County Deputy out to enforce those things since they are obviously noise ordinance violations.
Lastly, we left after the second movie and it was a major traffic jam. We sat in the traffic for 15 minutes not moving and I finally turned around and exited at the entrance which I don't think you're supposed to do. They really have to come up with a better plan at Vali-Hi to deal with that issue. 800 cars trying to squeeze out one little exit? Come on guys. Otherwise, it was a great experience.
Biggest screen out of the two drive ins that we know of great prices but they dont take a card so be sure to have the cash or checkbook. There is a cash machine in the main building and small kids are free that is awsome!!!
five stars and more... absolutely the best most fun place to see a movie... a drive in, cheap food and great selection, like one huge family... everyone in a good mood and allows dogs!!! this place sells out most of the time if you don't get there early... with an 800 car capacity
