Why can't this theatre have a message before the beginning of the film asking viewers to turn off their cell phones? And why must their popcorn be so expensive ($6 for the small bag)? Living midway between this theatre and LeFont Sandy Springs I'll typically use the latter as the admission price for seniors is only a quater more but the same size popcorn is a dollar less.
Both score points however for 'mostly' steering clear of the types of films that bring in cell phones afflicited. Most patrons at these two film houses come in, sit down,..and make themselves inconspicuous. If it were this way in most venues In ATL the managements wouldn't be on the ropes. If I can check my 'personality' at the door,...so can you. But I'm dreaming. -
The theater itself gets only 2 stars since they seem to have such trouble showing films in focus and heating and cooling the theaters properly.
If I was rating the films, it would be 5 stars.
It's a shame that the Tara gets so many exclusives on high-quality films since they do SUCH a crappy job presenting them. -
The theatre shows great movies - aimed at grown ups - which are sometimes hard to find elsewhere in town. I will see a movie there, knowing nothing about the movie, but trusting that if it is playing at the Tara, it is probably good. The very bad thing about this theatre is that they bombard you with ads, and loud promotions for up to 10 minutes. If the showtime is 4:00, the previews will start at 4:10. At least they keep the number of previews (movie trialers) low, and they are usually for good movies.

They do show great films and the theaters have large screens with comfortable seats. It's too bad this theater is poorly run and has tough popcorn.

This is a great movie theater. They show wonderful films. The parking is easy. I just wish they had a little more room to show even more films at a time. But this is definitely a "jewel" in Atlanta.
