User reviews on The Big Fremont/Mission Cinemas
Agreed....the price has risen dramatically while the matinee option has been reduced further. Popcorn and sodas are so expensive that it's kind of shameful. For the high price you're paying, the wealthy creep that owns this place isn't even willing to fix 3-4 broken drinking fountains or the bathroom counter top in over 4 months. It's like a bad slum lord. The Fremont theatre is such a historical gem that this jerk doesn't deserve to own it. This is the limit of capitalism in a small town.
It's a horrible experience. I am going to make a point to attend movies out of town more frequently just so that this place won't get my dollar. On a positive note, the palm rocks!
My family and I love this theater. The inside art deco decor is a flashback to the 40's. The screen is huge and the seating nice.
That said, I agree with the previous reviewer that the ticket prices are ridiculously high, the outgoing message announcing movie times is usually of poor quality (which is probably the norm for most theaters), and the clientèle (Cal Poly students) occasionally questionable.
Nevertheless, the Freemont is one of my family's two favorite SLO theaters (the other being the independent Palm Theater, www.thepalmtheater.com)
Yeah this theater is a classic but the owners of Themovieexperience. cohave no respect in taking care of it. In San Luis Obispo, there are 3 theaters owned by the same company! The Marsh Ripoff street theater next to Barnes & Nobles, the classic Fremont theater and the dirtiest theater on the planet the Monterey theater right next door to the Fremont theater.
Talk about a crappy theaters, never updated, crappy service!
Tickets are now $11.50 and $13.50!! They raised the price 3 times in 2009 to 2010, less than 1 year. Talk about a ripoff!
, the prices keeps going up but the service keeps going down. Yes the theater was nice when it first opened back in 1994 but nothing has been changed since 1994 considering it is 2009 now. The price of tickets are $11.50 now and manatee's are $10.50 which the time used to be 6pm by they lowered to 4pm and then to 2Pm and weekends, forget any discount on the weekends too as they want everybody to pay full price. Wow! Talk about a total rip-off!
They raise and raise the price but they haven't updated anything in the place. What’s the point to raise they're prices if they haven't changed anything. It seems their customer service has gotten worse and worse. I agree, they like people talk on cell phones, feet on the chairs, allow people to talk during the movies and they allow staff to due their homework on the ticket counter table. What kind of place is that?
I hate the SLO downtown theater or the movieexperience simply because it is too experience. What experience is it? Come up guys, fix the place up, do something with those outrageous ticket fees or lower the price. For the price what I pay, I can buy movie tickets on EBay for $4.00 to $3.00 at about a dozen tickets for Arroyo Grande Regal theater. Yes they are a rip-off too but at least they have a membership option and discounts and better seating, real theater ushers who check the theaters for cell phones, talking, feet on chairs and more. The SLO downtown movieexperience doesn't do any of that. They are just awful
