User reviews on Silver Cinemas - Market Square
The Silver Cinemas is my favorite theatre based on several criteria, foremost, it's reasonably priced, and the movies aren't just dated movies that already failed at the bigger, spendier, first run-venues. Well, maybe they are to whatever degree, but I'd much rather see the movie at lower prices, and less glitz, than cram into the trendy macro-screenfarm where all the teenies who have been given carte blanche with mommy and daddy's credit card.
The staff have always been polite and considerate, and they know this place rather sucks, but it’s got a certain ‘cool’ they likely find makes it worth the embarrasment of being underemployed. For the most part they appear to be a tad older and displaced from a real job and they recognize like-minded adults who prefer to patronize this fading old place instead of skipping it over, and assuring it’s inevitable demise to the more profitable chains who are waging war to claim the entire market share.
Returning to polite staff, this isn’t really so at the megascreen franchises. Sure, they slap on the happy face and tell you they appreciate your business, but I see them suffer and struggle to appear happy, per the employee regs, but if you’re over thirty, they consider you as much of a loser as that old manager creeper who might as well be you. They expect you’ll die at any moment, they collectively pretend tolerance, but still foster an annoyed teenager attitude that makes the forced smiles and transparent manners all the more bogus.
The movies are cheap.
The concessions are not so cheap, but still within reason. Someone still has to pay the rent with whatever money does find its way here. After all the owners are hard at work trying to sell the land out from under the decrepit building so they can make a bundle off of some newer more flashy structure that will one day soon stand in this very location.
