Love going to this theater -
I appreciate that they brought to Santa Cruz CA D'Souza's movie
"2016: Obama's America" so that I could see it. No other theater in town did.
Last year, they brought Metropolitan operas, which was very memorable, and which made history come alive.
I even appreciated that they had bottled water from a fridge which is a relatively healthy choice for a movie theater.
And the process worked so that I could register and login here to comment. (Don't take it for granted.) -
Gone are the days when you could quietly listen to music in a darkened theater before a movie. Now you are assaulted with commercials and 'infotainment' pieces instead, and this theater is one of the worst offenders in Santa Cruz -
Personally I love this theater. Sure its expensive but what modern theater isn't? The price of admission is the same here as anywhere else in Santa Cruz and they just started doing 6 dollar movie Tuesdays which is awesome! Also for anyone getting mad at people sneaking in food and texting - what do you expect? A thorough pat down and body scan for everyone who walks in the door to make sure little Timmy didn't bring in candy or a phone? Now THATS a lawsuit waiting to happen. -
Concessions are way too expensive (so people sneak in outside, sometimes smelly food; people who check cell phones, text, and talk during the movie are too numerous and management does not care; yes, some seats are in disrepair. And, to the guy from PA: Girl from PA's opinion is as valid as anyone else's, including yours. -

Cinema 9 is a great theatre.
Very kind employees, clean rarely
are the floors sticky.
If you don't like potheads or if you lack compassion
for homeless people then what's the point of going
to Santa Cruz? Please stay away go to a sterile mall.
We Santa Cruzans don't want hateful, uptight losers
downtown. I'll take a poor kind person (like Jesus)
over an uptight hater anyday. -
This is a GREAT theatre, resonable prices, friendly staff and they recently hired a new Manager (whos very helpful). They always play the movies I want to see I have no complaints. And if you're not down with that, ive got two words for yah! SUCK IT! -
