I would give this theater more stars if only it were more handicapped friendly. There is one row in each theater that is accessible to people who have mobility issues. Other theaters in the area have better handrail configurations that make it possible for me to access seats anywhere in the theater, such as the Mission Valley 20 and Edwards Mira Mesa. If I'm going out with a group of friends I certainly don't want our group to monopolize the one designated handicapped row. That should be saved for people who are in wheelchairs or are more severely impacted. However, to sit anywhere else I need help making that journey from the handrail to the seats. Awkward and a little embarrassing.
On the plus side, I really enjoy the morning showings at a discounted admission price. and the employees have always been friendly, especially Larry at the concession counter. It wouldn't be a trip to the Towne Square theater without getting popcorn from him. -
I go to the Town Square 14 all the time. I like the stadium seating. The bathrooms are clean. I don't eat from the snack bar at any theater so can judge the food. I do know that the overprice candy and popcorn are what keep theaters in business since they receive only a small percentage of the income from ticket sales.
The other two theaters I go to are the La Jolla 12, which doesn't have stadium seating but is otherwise okay, and the Landmark in La Jolla Village Square. It's rundown but shows movies that can't be seen elsewhere. There used to be theaters in PB and La Jolla, but they're gone. And one at UTC. It's gone too. Personally, I feel lucky not having to drive to Mission Valley or Fashion Valley malls and fight the traffic and crowds just to see a movie.
Town Square 14 is my local theater, and I'm grateful to have it. So from me it gets 2 thumbs up. -
This used to be a wonderful theater. Unfortunately, after Reading bought it, the theater has really gone downhill. Crackly sound or inoperative speakers in many of the theaters, dirty seats and floors that aren't cleaned between showings, and managers who can't be located when customers have questions...all of this has contributed to the downfall of a once-great movie house. This is really sad because the surrounding restaurants and shops undoubtedly suffer as well, as people decide they want a nicer "dinner and a movie" experience elsewhere. It's a shame.
