User reviews on Movie Tavern Providence Town Center
Great place for a date night. Food and service was pretty good. An get a little too crowded so get there early if you want decent seats for a popular movie. Awesome place all around!
My friends and I had ordered four tickets for Baggage Claim ahead of time online. When we showed up at the theater we found out that we all had to have ID to prove that we were over 16 (although the movie we were seeing was only rated PG13). The majority of us had left ID at home because who brings ID to a movie theatre?!?! They then proceeded to tell us that we were not allowed to see this movie without ID. We had to refund our tickets, and they gave us a $1 surcharge per ticket, and were left questioning what to do for the rest of the night. The costumer service was awful and the manager was rude. We did not receive one apology for this inconvenience. I am definitely not returning unless this absurd policy is changed and the rude manager has left.
lol some people are so dumb, you spelled *sundae*, Sunday, your review is much less credible now. So illiterate. I however had a phenomenal experience here. Service 100 % and food was fantastic, as well as super fast service. My beer came out before the server was even done taking our order.
Bad service and plastic object in my food tonight!!!
Normally I do not do bad reviews of places but tonight I really had one of the most unpleasant movie experiences ever.
First of all, I have been to the Movie Tavern many times and enjoyed myself very much. The atmosphere and seating is great for viewing a movie. Tonight however was not exactly what I was looking forward to.
I went tonight to see Despicable Me 2 with my girlfriend and her sister. We ordered food and drinks just prior to the previews starting. The iced teas the ladies ordered came out first then the food after about 20 minutes, but not my beer. Assuming that my beer should have been out before the food, I pressed the "Magic Button" for service.
As I watched the multitude of servers around the rest of the theater service the other patrons, I waited. While I waited, I started eating the Kobe Beef Sliders I had ordered. With the second bite from the first slider, I felt something strange that I was chewing on. I was able to pull out the piece that I was feeling between my teeth and took a look and found half of a plastic bag clip! The ones that you generally find keeping your bread bag closed. Upon seeing this, I spit out the rest of the bite of food I had in my mouth and immediately felt a little nauseous.
I began thinking about what if that piece had slipped through and I had swallowed it? It had a bit of a sharp edge where it had been broken from the other half and still also had the pointed end exposed that was where it opened to close a bag together. Here, eating in the dark and finding a piece of plastic like this in my food that I would have never seen!!!
At this point I was still waiting for the service call to be answered so I continued to wait. Finally, about 10 minutes after I had originally pressed the button, the server arrived. I explained to him about the absent beer from 30 minutes prior and showed him the plastic piece I almost swallowed. He asked if I wanted any different food or anything else and if I wanted to speak to a manager. I said definitely no to other food, but yes to a manager.
5 minutes later my beer finally arrived, followed by the manager a couple of minutes later. She sat down next to me and began to apologize profusely about the incident. Not wanting to cause a large scene in the middle of the movie I was very calmly responding to her and letting her know how scared and disappointed I was in what I could have been ingested. She only offered to take my food off of the bill (the food which immediately was taken away when I wanted no part of it...) and gave me two passes to come back to another movie. Upon asking about any other food, I did agree to popcorn since it seemed like the safest thing to get at the time.
With about 30 minutes or so left in the movie, my girlfriends sister ordered an ice cream sunday, only to have it forgotten or delivered somewhere else and finally one brought to her within minutes of the credits rolling.
Finally, upon exiting the theater, my girlfriend went to use the restroom and had to skip the first four stalls before finding one which was barely tolerable for her to sit in. She said that there was trash including tampons all over the floor, toilet paper all over seats and a general unclean conditions in the entire restroom.
Overall the experience was one to forget. I will likely go to the Movie Tavern again, but will be very leery of ordering any food that I cannot visually inspect within the low light conditions within.
What an incredible movie and dining experience!
It was the right setting for a "perfect" Date Night!
My husband and I traveled an hour from New Jersey to
have an adventure, and this did not disappoint.
The attendents were pleasant, the food was delicious and the
movie was phenonmenal.
