6/2/11 I hope the end of this post takes you by surprise
Took my 84 yo friend to the 4:10p. First of all, no handrail for her to hold onto when entering the dark theater. Did not like that at all.
Movie darkened and then completely died. Ok~ got around 15 kids under 10 years old in there, and about 4 adults. I walked up to the front and informed them. Which : they had no idea the movie broke, didn't know what to do, or who to call. Guy there wants to give a verbal synopsis of the rest of the movie, and I'm thinking "I don't want you to Describe it~ we want to watch it!" A courteous black lady said she would go see what's up. So I went back to the theater.
She came in short time after to say, there is no other movie playing for an hour ..and this one would be half hour before it started up again. She didn't know what to do.
I asked if she could give us all free passes to come back and watch a movie at another time. She said "I can certainly do that. Come up to the front and I'll take care of it right now." So kudos to the lady for DOING THE RIGHT THING. The passes are for any movie except IMAX, and any time. (not just matinee) : - >
We all know that when we are wronged we tell anyone who will listen. But someone doing the right thing, we rarely tell anyone. I'm going back with my elderly gf in about 2 hrs and hopefully will find out her name to give a kudo her way to her supervisor.
this is NOT the worst theater in Savannah. That would be the Eisenhower theaters. This place has drastically improved. I'm assuming it must be under new managament. This theater is now Family friendly in my opinion. I've been going on weekends lately and have noticed more families and seniors coming back to a once labeled "-hood" theater. On weekends, management is visable. There is always plenty of staff scheduled to keep wait times in ticket and concession lines to a minimum. There is security inside and outside on the weekends to insure safety. I am so glad that there is a NICE place to go closer to the Islands for movies ! The only complaint i would have would be that sometimes, they don't keep the temperature of the theater cool enough.
Worst Theater in Savannah. By far. Terrible picture quality. Lights in theater are too bright. Their screens aren\'t the right format for widescreen movies, they are 16x9 and often movies are wider than this. So, they crop off several feet of the movie. It\'s really obvious because none of the titles are centered. I saw Star Trek there and when the main title came up, there was no \"k\" on \"Trek\" because they had cropped it off. Just terrible projections time and again. I\'ve complained and nothing has been done to fix this.
