As a "white person" I enjoy going to this theater with my family .... In fact I came to this site to view movie times .... When I came across this comment that pissed me off I decided to copy it add a few notes ....."The Hood really it is not.(?) If U call that the hood U have no idea what the hood really look like( really looks like?) .. smh trust no one want what's in ur car ( trust no one want what's??? grammar!!!!! )....lol U ppl are so scary for nothing ( so scary? Or scared?).. we play U white ppl no mind. (here's my favorite part! We play U white ppl no mind ?!?!? Um wtf?) Anyway I rember ( lol remember...) when this place was brand new and it has gone down( ummm ??) . I hope they can maintain the place.. for many that's the only way we can take your family as a whole $20 is enough to enjoy.. ( lmao too much to fix ) thx movie 8 u do have supporters who don't think they to ( they are too) good to go to Movie 8 on the East side."
.... When it comes to the color of skin I have no issue ... I love all of gods children .... What I can't stand is stupidity ....

It IS NOT the HOOD. It IS what you should expect for a DOLLAR theater. Stop being such a snob and slandering a business that is giving you exactly what you pay for. Don't like it? There's a theater across the street that you can spend $10/ticket. Stop complaining.

To the lady with the GS Troop:
Here's what you do - since I know Girl Scouts are always prepared - go to the Dollar Tree and buy some "popcorn bowls" made specifically for popcorn. Keep them in your trunk - as many as you want because they'll nest/stack - and next time the Mgr says "sorry," go get the bowls out of the trunk. Besides, they'll be more germ-free than the theatre ones because your troop will get the "patch" for washing out the bowls after use.

I agree that you get what you pay for, that the movies are a GREAT price and that the theater deserves to try to make some money off the concessions because they're clearly not staying in business charging $1.50/ticket (or whatever it is now, they recently raised prices by a quarter or something). Go on a Tuesday for lower ticket prices. They have a family special on Mondays.

There are only three things I'd change:
    1) Refill on the soda. C'mon, I know you're making money at the concession stand, but $5 for a soda? You have what, a nickel in that cup and maybe a quarter in the soda itself? Cinemark Washington Market 8, you'd sell a LOT more sodas if you gave away a free refill. I know I'd be more likely to buy one every time I was there feeling I'd be getting some value if I got a refill.

    2) The 'hood. I know you can't do anything about this, but E. Washington is NOT the best neighborhood. I won't go shopping before going to the movies because I don't trust that if I had bags in my vehicle that it wouldn't get broken into.

    3) The bathrooms in that joint are NASTY. I'd feel more comfortable urinating in my empty, non-refillable soda cup than going into the latrines there. The floors are sticky (UGH!), the toilets are always full because no one wants to touch the handles to flush, the room is a concrete hole of aromatic hell. VENTILATION is your friend, Cinemark! And so is a mop. C'mon, there's gotta be SOMEBODY in this town you can pay minimum wage to slop some bleach water around that disgusting outhouse disguised as a bathroom. And get a hand dryer that actually works! Most of those nasty ppl in there don't wash their hands (how could you NOT wash after being in this germ-filled paradise?) but those of us that do wash our hands don't have a dryer in there that's worth a darn so we walk out wiping our hands on our jeans....which are still cleaner than ANYTHING in that bathroom.

They have to run a business while charging very little for admission. You get what you pay for so I don't think that the sticky floors are that big of a deal unless you, and maybe even girl scouts start lapping up day old soda off the ground. In my opinion you get far more than you paid for. Like the previous review stated, you can't rent a movie for the price of two tickets at this theater.

    "popcoen?"
    hahahaha

Sure the floors are sticky and the atmosphere can vary wildly depending on the audience for each flick... but you can't beat it for cheap entertainment. Two people can watch a movie on the big screen for less than what it would cost to rend the DVD at Blockbuster. I would be very, VERY sad to see this place close down. Long live MOVIES 8 on the east side!

I took my girl scout troops to see a movie. We went on a Monday specifically because of the consession special. When we arrived we were told that they were out of popcoen boxes so they could not sell the special. They were unwilling to offer a substitute or to provide a discount. The manager told me that there was nothing that he could do and he walked away. They were out of napkins. Restrooms smelled. Floor in theater was sticky. I will NEVER spend my money at that theater again.
