User reviews on CEC - Ottumwa 8 Theatre
In such a small-town/rural part of Iowa, it's really quite a luxury just to have a theater with more than two screens and the capabilities for at least *some* of the newer movie technologies. I've noticed some people complain about the manager, but when I've spoken with her she's always been friendly, courteous, helpful, and even fairly knowledgeable ("businesslike" is probably the worst I could say, & even that's not all bad). It's a shame they've had to raise concession prices lately (no more matinee & medium drink for under $10!), but you do what you have to to stay afloat (& as I understand it, distributors demand a share of ticket revenues, but usually not concessions, so it makes sense really).
One request: it would be nice if matinee prices were posted here with the other ticket prices. (I *should* be able to remember, but... oh well!).
My goodness no wonder the blonde lady is so b@#$y listen at yourselves. Give respect get respect.... now there is a thought for all of you smart asXXs. If you need petted and babysat stay at home the rest of us enjoy our theater.
Best theater in the area, people are friendly, helpful- I need special headphones, and they get them and try them out for me to make sure they work.
Always a good night out when going to a movie there.
Keep up the good job.
Why don't you make your damn rules clear!!!!! Couldn't go to a r rated movie because my child lacked the cut off by one year wtf! I wouldn't have drive 30 min and waited in town till almost 10pm if I would have known I couldn't get in! Stupid ass place!
I also sadly must agree with others that the older blonde woman, whom I believe is the manager, has very spotty customer service skills. She kept an entire crowd outside the theater IN THE COLD RAIN once, because she claimed the crowd waiting in the lobby would be a disturbance. I've seen crowds wait inside in the past, so I find her policy variably enforced at the least. Under the extreme bad weather circ**stances that evening, her decision-making was shocking. She also was downright rude when I inquired once about an item I had hoped would show up in the lost and found. She does on occasion seem just fine, but there is really no exuse for a manager ever to be as rude and arrogant as I have occasionally observed. The theater otherwise is fine, I also agree. I regularly attend this theater and will continue to do so. I hope the manager in issue resolves to improve her customer service skills.
It is a nice clean theater, all the people that work there are very nice and they have good movies..But the volume is always so load that it bothers me and I hear others complain.TURN THE VOLUME DOWN! we are not hard of hearing!
Good Theater, Clean, good movie experience. I would have to agree with the others though, the older blonde lady is really bitter and a poor representative of the rest of the organization. Several of the other employees are really outstanding, especially the blonde gentleman that takes the tickets (he's always really helpful and nice to my kids). I would give Ottumwa 8 a 5 star rating if it weren't for the nasty lady at the ticket counter!
We’re grateful to have a nice theater & are ALWAYS treated professionally, especially by the blonde lady. She does a superb job managing the theater, cleanliness, & staff. Unfortunately, everyone has to put up with belligerent kids/movie goers, but as far as the staff goes… outstanding!
there's an old woman there with blondish hair who is a RAGING C*NT they need to fire her a s s immediately. I brought my 5-year-old nephew to see a movie here once and he started crying when he saw her. That was worth the 8 bucks.
I'm waiting very hopefully for Courageous. Please show it in Ottumwa, I know of quite a lot of people who would LOVE to see it!!
