User reviews on Carmike Wynnsong 12 - Winston-Salem
Have lived in the WS area for 6 years and have enjoyed going to the Carmike Wynnsong 12. The new seating is comfortable, the staff is friendly and the prices are good compared to the competition.
Clearly the guy above me had a terrible experience at this theatre, and his angry rant is expected. But, on the other hand, take it from someone who lives fairly close to the theatre and watches movies there all the time. This is a good theatre. The pictures great. The sound is not perfect on some of the unpopular movies, but the headliners usually have great sound. The size of the individual theaters are above average I would think. However, they do have theaters towards the back that are significantly smaller, but they are reserved for the least popular movies or movies that are about to leave the theatre. 2D Ticket prices are about $ 9.50 unless you have a student ID, are a small child, or are a senior citizen, in which case you would pay about $7.00. 3D is about $12.50 and $9.00 with discounts. Popcorn is good about 85% of the time, occasionally you will get a batch that is a bit over cooked, but there are two popcorn machines one on either side of the lobby. If in the rare case it does happen and you don't like your popcorn, they'll refill it no problem at your request. All in all it's a good theatre, I give a 4 out of 5 stars. I've been to a number of theaters in my time on this earth, none more than this one, and thus far, I haven't had a terrible experience.
Drove 25 miles to see a 10:15am showing of Harry Potter & HBP. Arrived at 9:50 and got in line to get tickets. The ticket booth was still closed. People started arriving and a line formed for those with prepaid tickets. And we waited. An employee left the building at 10:05, and without a word to anyone got in a vehicle parked in front of the theater and left. Still we waited, and everyone was getting anxious as there was nothing going on that could be seen. 10:15 came and went; still no one at the ticket booth and the doors remained locked. We finally left at 10:40, very disappointed, leaving behind many angry customers holding tickets.
