User reviews on Carmike 14 - Tyler
Carmike 14 by far has the best cinemas in Tyler. All digital projection and digital sound. While it is true that the concession prices are outrageous, neither of its competitors at the time of this review (The Tyler [Regal] Rose and Times Square Cinema [independently owned and operated] can compete with the quality of the actual viewing experience Carmike 14 has to offer. Every theatre offers PERFECT all digital projection and sound. This means no having to get your money refunded for breaking film strips and sound cutting out. Seating layouts are equally impressive, and if you want to impress a 1st date and are taking them to a movie, don't go to one of the others... go to Carmike 14. You might pay more but THEY won't be disappointed.
Noise problems (talking idiots) were not addressed adequately nor quickly by management, making one kind woman have to leave the theater TWICE during the movie, as nothing at all was done the first time. I had to leave the theater and angrily tell the manager (who was relaxing and chatting with some people) to come do something about the problem. The projected image on the screen has been "dark" or dim for two different movies that I've attended, and I think it's a projection issue, i.e. nobody's in the projection booth and/or they haven't bothered to look at the screen and/or they don't care.
Please do not visit Carmike 14 if at all possible. While it is a very nice looking theater and always seems clean and comfortable, their concession prices are outrageous, and the candy is always overpriced and stale tasting. There never seems to be enough help in the concession stand, causing an extended wait. And if you buy tickets in advance online, you'll still need to wait in the ticket line to get your tickets from the cashier just like everyone else, So if you're paying the extra $1.25 or so per ticket thinking you'll avoid the line, think again. I much prefer Times Square Cinema up the road. A smaller theater, but much more reasonably priced concessions, and you can find coupons in the back of the current AT&T Yellow Pages phone book. The service at the concession stand is much quicker, and you can order tickets in advance online at tylermovies. coand pick them up at the kiosk located inside the theater.
Very nice place to go. Excellent seats and sound. They are also strong supporters of the community. They should be commended for all they do to raise funds for the local charities. I like the popcorn also!
Sick of their overpriced stale popcorn. Won't buy anything in their concession stand. Only go there when we don't have a choice i.e. the only movie showing that we want to see.
