I've been going to Big Cinemas for a while. Beside few typical desi issues which you can't avoid since you are going to desi theater such as digging down your bags to make sure you don't have ANY outside food including gum to extremely over price Samosas, profit probably 5000%, I didn't have much problem with the theater. I was actually happy to see a Desi theater opened not to far from my resident.
Today they have crossed all the limits and didn't leave me any choice but to give them one star here. Today, what they did proved they are typical desis and the phrase, you can take the boy out of the village but not the village out of the boy, was said for the lower to upper management of this theater.
We, my wife and I, have been trying to see this one film for a while but wasn't getting a chance. Today while we were out shopping thought today might be the perfect day to go for it since we have couple hours to spare to watch the film. I too my iPhone out instantly and went to the app called Flixter to check the showtimes. Guess what, I couldn't find Big Cinemas Golf Glen on Flixter, Oh well big deal, they are desis so I didn't care as much. I googled the theater name right away. I googled "Big Cinemas Golf Glen" first link on the top said check the showtime and locations. I clicked on it and AWESOME!! After pin pointing which theater I was on the showtime page showing me the movie we really wanted to see playing at 8:10PM. It was 6:30PM and we were hardly half an hour away.
First thing I did, I texted few friends if they wanna join us. One friend responded that I should pick him up and another couple texted back that they are leaving their home now, at 6:30 cause they are far and they'll meet us at the theater. Awesome!!! We were excited. We really wanted to see this film with our best friends and now we were going to. We decided that we have good Hour and a half we should go and kill time.We end up eating some snacks.
We picked up one of our friends and got to theater 15 minutes before the showtime. Walked up to ticket both and said the movie name and guess what we heard.
" Sorry sir its not playing today" I said, "Whaaat, what do you mean, its on your website"
Here all of my friends standing behind me staring at me like I've made a big mistake. I even started to doubt myself. Not believing at the situation and going a bit nervous I took my phone out instantly and try to pull up the webpage and here it was, movie was there. First thing I showed it to my friends and then to the ticket lady her reply was, "Sorry sir I think somebody FORGOT to take it off the website" I said wait a minute, What kinda excuse is that? Like a bad customer service agent who repeats like a computer without acknowledging your frustration she said it again "Sorry sir its not playing today we took it off of our website. We walked away from her thinking what should we do now. No other movie was starting til 10PM and its 8PM. While we were trying to think since we all got together and some of my friends drove from an hour away we should do something, we observe couple other ladies going thourgh the same situation followed by few other people who were there to watch that film because they saw on that website. Finally manager walked up and said loudly in deep accent. VEE HAVE REMOVEDDD IT FROM AAR VEB SIDE. I just couldn't take that and I walked up to him to show on my phone. He looked at it and said its not our website. Wait a minute I googled again and I clicked on first link which said clearly their theater name but guess what it was a website which is equivalent of Fandango for Indian films call http://nowrunning.com. Ok fine its not directly your website but its coming as the first link and it is linked to your theater. He said "VELL DARE IS NOTING I CAN DO ABOUT IT" I said but sir we came from far and waited all this time you have nothing else playing either. His response was NEXT SHOW TIME IS AT 10 VHY DOND U WAIT" I just couldn't believe the ignorance of the manager.
Lets see, We are in US not in India or Pakistan. Imagine same situation would've happened in American theater. Scenario: Fandango showed a wrong showtime, you arrived at AMC theater, movie is not playing manager would've come up & apologize about dumb fandangos mistake, would offer you tickets for another day. You would've left as if not happy but at least a bit ok about it. What makes me hate the whole situation was the behavior of the manager and theater staff.
According to them they did remove the movie front their website when they suddenly decided not to play but Mr. Manager it is YOUR job to notify at least to the one who is showing on google BEFORE your listing. Not only that, he didn't show any sympathy toward all of us who waited a long time or drove from hour away. Best of all, he suggested us to wait for next show time for a different movie which was two hours away and not even for free.
CALL BEFORE YOU GO THEIR NEXT TIME.
