I attempted to go to the movies this weekend by invite from a “close friend”. We arrived a bit early but as we waited in line to buy obscenely over priced popcorn and snacks they ran out of popcorn just as we made it up to the counter. The young lady (child) behind the counter exclaimed that it would be a few minutes but by this time our movie had already started. We opted out and requested a refund which they gave us. Another family of umpteen people who were behind us in line also opted out of this showing thinking that they would go out to lunch and come back for the next showing. We were almost out the door when I heard the cashier girl (child) say that the next showing was not a matinee and it would cost more. That’s when it happened, I heard a snap in my head and I went postal (not really). My civility (what little I possess) left me and I blurted over the din of the theater lobby. “That’s right make them pay more to see the movie that you are at fault for them missing”.
As we headed out through the foyer I expressed my anger to my “close friend” and one of the words was, well…f***!!!!! I guess I said it louder than I would in my normal voice but to be honest I really was past the point of caring. Why might you ask did I get so worked up? Because… well… f***!!!!!! It was my day, it was supposed to be about me and this bulls*** f***ed up establishment was s***ting on me and on everyone else and it’s wasn’t the first time. In fact the last time I tried to see a movie there I checked out their website, chose a movie and drove twenty miles to discover that they were f***ING CLOSED and their website was f***ING wrong! f***!!!!!!!!
I just got off the phone with the owners of the theater, not children, but still not logical thinking people… CAN YOU SAY IDIOTS?
Cleanliness in the theaters is always an issue. Totally dark when trying to find a seat, bring a flashlight or use your cell phone so you don't step on toes or sit on anyone's lap. Quite often it is freezing AND sweltering all during the same show. Framing is often off kilter. Once all chins were cut off and the microphone booms were visible on the screen; same with focus- sometimes just not quite right. Doors are left open for the start of the movie and some patron finally has to shut the door for the rest of us. Preshow: nice that they sell advertising, but the pictures are usually dark, if on the screen at all. Focus is almost always bad. When the picture is there sometimes there's no sound. I feel bad for the advertisers because the framing often cuts off the words. And why is the sound for all of the previews on the break your eardrum level?
The theater stopped listing the line up in the local paper for a long time and trying to find the moving listing on the internet is frustrating as they often don't provide the movies to the sites.
On the positive side, the popcorn is fresh and the bathrooms are clean.
This theater needs managers that care about service and respect the audience and the movies.
