User reviews on AMC Rivercenter 11 with Alamo IMAX
Love how they remodeled! Im going back!!! Awesome big seats!!!
The worst movie experience ever. Watched a three hour movie in the most uncomfortable seats. The popcorn was so bad that I'm certain rats wouldn't eat it. It stinks. What is this theater doing in the Riverwalk area?? This is a major tourist attraction in Texas. Do yourself a favor, travel a little further to the Regal at the Alamo Quarry. Definitely worth the drive. Don't waste your money here.
I have lived in sa most of my life, had some free tickets and took my daughter to see a movie, this theater is disgusting! Smelled like urine and was very musty seats are awful! And after leaving I feel I am coming down with something, im pretty sure there has to be mold growing, they really need to update, tourist go to this theater how embarrassing!
Since I work downtown, it's sometimes convenient for me to go to this theater. I usually only go to movies at the IMAX screen here (I'll do a different review for it on the IMAX page) but have been to the normal screens before. I also felt inclined to put a review up to make sure there's one honest review on this venue since the only other mention is by the crazy person who had his feelings hurt by the lack of screens showing his Precious. (Yes, I beleive he could possibly be Gollum.)
At any rate, this theater is at best fair. I'm sure there are high end home theaters in some of the more expensive homes in the San Antonio area that rival several of the screens in this place. As a home theater fan myself, I often find myself comparing my experience at home to those that I have in the theaters. In the case of this theater, I prefer my little home theater. My sound and picture quality is better. It's as simple as that.
They are using non-digital projectors, which is fine if done correctly, but the constant noise in the picture that include dust and what may be the projectionist's pubic hair continue to be completely annoying.
The seats are beyond comfortable, and my HT seats are a definate improvement. Because it's downtown, the consessions are priced higher than outlaying theaters and the popcorn is about as bad as it gets.
Do yourself a favor and drive a few miles for a better experience.
