User reviews on AMC Loews Raceway 10
On 11/10/2013 my wife and I were at the AMC Raceway 10 to see the new Thor movie.
While on line a person was observing people waiting to buy tickets. To some he gave a piece of paper and to some he did not.
Eventually, I inquired and he told me that he was giving free preview passes to an upcoming movie but only to those that looked like they were between 13 and 49. Apparently anyone over 49 was unworthy. He explained that it was about ratings. He showed me the form which indeed referred to people of this age.
Besides being insulted by his assumption of my age I thought it was outrageous that AMC would allow such an exclusionary practice.
I have since spoken to the theatres general manager as well as someone from corporate.
They explained that they will continue this practice which was indeed done with their knowledge and consent. I explained that this was an insult on so many levels. They did not disagree but said that this practice of would continue to include other AMC theatres.
Now admittedly this movie "Vampire Academy" is probably only going to appeal to children, but a 49 year old is hardly that.
The bottom line is that AMC seems to have little respect for selected age groups and surely this movie should be boycotted.
AMC seems to have questionable interest in respecting their clientele but minimal ticket sales should gain some attention.
