User reviews on Carmike Maysville Cinema 4
Their selection of movies doesn't cover all choices. It's kid stuff. Adults like movies also. Heaven forbid the subject matter were to be AIDS or world events. Maysville Cinema will not have it showing. But every Disney movie on earth will play there. You won't see George Clooney at Carmike.
They suck!!! they have bed bugs, they never have any movie you want to see. they have terrible prices, they dont have my favorite movie series, percy jackson, sea of monsters.I was very disapointed and pissed. I will never go there again, neither will my friends, or family.
Where to begin? First, lets discuss the prices of the tickets, which really aren't terrible. If you travelled to a larger city, you would likely find that the average ticket price is at or around $9.00. At Carmike Maysville Cinema 4, the high-end price is $7.00, and less on Sunday/Tuesday, if I remember correctly. Next, we'll discuss convenience. Being the closest sit-in theater for Higginsport, Ripley, Aberdeen, and naturally, Maysville residents, this particular theater supplies a lot of demand.
This, however, is the point where the review takes a turn for the worse. Concessions: I wouldn't recommend buying anything smaller than the large drink OR popcorn. I'll put it bluntly; the prices on the large drink/popcorn are ridiculous. They are. At right around $6.30 for a large bucket of popcorn, you'll think you traded in a hand. That said, you have access to free refills, and the same goes for the large drink. Now, for about .80 or 90 cents less, you can have a medium which, well..could be considered a small. The prices between sizes are extremely disproportionate.
The viewing area leaves a bit to be desired, as well. The main aisles are carpeted, but when you walk to your seat, you are treated to a painted concrete floor that seems to be constantly sprayed with some sort of adhesive. Never, in many years that I have travelled to Maysville Cinema 4, has the floor been any less sticky than flypaper. I'm sure this is from spilled drinks, but c'mon..every time? I have attended a few different movies where, in one of the viewing areas, the screen has been ripped. To repair this inconvenience, they seemingly spared no expense in using the finest tape that money can buy. Tape. I'm not sure if this is standard procedure for movie theaters, but considering that this fix was used for several months, I'd like to think that they would look into other alternatives.
The seating has been the same since the early 90's, apparently, and there are no discernable signs of any change. Why would they change it; if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? RIGHT? I mean, who couldn't adore the early 90's layout where, if someone taller sits directly in front of you, you can't see the screen? There's a slight incline of the floor, but in the back rows, it seemingly makes no difference. This, coupled with the musky, pungent, and foul odor of their pre-Lion King upholstery will make for a pleasant experience, I guarantee. Seriously, guys: I know that you can't control who comes in or out of your theater, but please, make every effort to shampoo, or at LEAST DEODORIZE the seats.
I'd say those are my main gripes: Everytime I walk onto their floor, I feel like Spider-man, and the seats are funky as all hell. I've been going there since at least Mortal Kombat, and the floor was an issue, even then. Now, I can deal with the floor, honestly; but the smell of the seats? Please, do something about that.
maysville theater should have lower price on candy
Maysville cinema over-sells tickets! Why? Their reason is they can't control on-line sales! I purchased tickets to breaking dawn at the cinema two days early only to be turned away when I arrived because all seats were full! Talk about a rip off!
Growing up my family would always take us to the Maysville Cinema 4 for movies. I thought it was the greatest thing ever. It may not have as much seating as bigger theaters and be as fancy, but simple is the best. They have always been polite and courteous all the years i've been there. What I love the most is the prices. I like being able to pay cheaper prices and still have a great time. I absolutely love Maysville Cinema and I drive at least 45 minutes to get there, but its so worth the drive. Thats the only I theatre use. :)
Nice theater, clean and staffed with courteous, attentive staff.
maysville theater is not that bad but i think that cinncinatie is better because it is in 3-d so i think that we should have 3-d to so maysville would have more service
