Watchmen Movie Reviews
User reviews on Watchmen
watchmen was a pretty good movie if you like comic books and superheroes and it was even good but it is about three hours long and the first hour or so is sloooowwwwww. this movie is also ok but i dont reccomend it to kids under the age of 17 or so because there is some xxx init and some naughty stuff but not that mcuh
Funny how riled up people get over seeing male bits! If it was Mrs Manhattan I bet no one would care. The fact that he is nude all the time represents just how much he cares for what we humans think of as necessary or prudent.
If you see this movie don't expect something similar to spider man, this isn't just about super powers and the two dimensional good-guys vs bad-guys formulae. It's a movie about characters and humanity, and a masterpiece in my opinion.
Not worth the money. Very slow to start and the sex scene is totally not necessary to the plot, if you can find one in the first half of the movie. Mr. Manhattan being nude with full frontal views was a bit shocking. What's the point of having this. Didn't add anything to the story. What a disapointment.
I was reading the other reviews here and quite frankly I honestly don't believe they saw the same movie I did. This is NOT any type of porno. I bet there are sex scenes in 80% of rated R films (like them or not). Im not offended by a brief male hiney or nipple, or for that matter a couple of seconds of a hardly visible blue CGI p****. The sex scene is "300" was far more graphic."Boogie Nights", also an R film, had 100 times the nudity and sex than Watchmen. I think the other reviewers are pissed because they thought they were going to see a typical super-hero action film, and perhaps to that end its Hollywood's fault for advertising this as such, which is irresponsible for I am sure there will be a lot kids going to see this that shouldn't.
Getting all of that out the way, I thought the film was top-notch, very artistic, with a great plot full of stark imagery and unique story-telling. Jackie Haley (Kelly Leek from Bad News Bears) was amazing as always. Beautiful and inventive cinematography, not to be missed on the big screen.
The Watchmen is not worth seeing. I should\'ve left in the first 30 minutes of the movie which would have qualified me for a refund. The sound was horrible, the story was vague and the plot had no bite at all. Watching a blue gay guy nude really didnt make my day.
This was the worst movie I have seen in a very long time! It was long and drawn out, unnecessary male frontal nudity and pornographic and tasteles at times. I cant believe the director of 300 made this trash! The most entertainment I had was seeing how long I could sit through this garbage without leaving. Simply Awful, definitely do not take children, or anyone your not comfortable watching a porno with.
Contains some very general spoilers: Read at your own peril.
This is a strange film, but in a very good, unique, and fresh way. Complex story line, fully developed characters, masterful directing and sound design. But do not go thinking of this as your typical Hollywood action film, looking for a good reason to exploit CGI, its NOT. Also do not go with any children under 16 as this is a purely adult fare. Even if you were to strip away the nudity, sex, stark cruelty, and extreme violence, the story line would be lost on young minds and even some older ones as the film tackles historical political views, actions, and events.
Heros in films have never been betrayed so dark and with so much animosity, apathy and cruelty to the very humans they protect. At the core, this film is a serious drama more than an action film as the action is not posed or grandstanded.
It became apparent why this story was so long to become actualized as some of the topics: Vietnam war, Nixon presidency, and the Kennedy assassination would have been deemed distasteful and unsettling had this film been made near the time of its publication and to that end no major film studio would have distributed it.
Well casts and acted with two stand-out performances by Malin Akerman as Silk Spectre and perhaps the most underrated actor in Hollywood, Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach, who completely owns every scene regardless of the mask or not.
A controversial film for sure, that will be talked about and debated about this year, with almost a certain cult appeal.
My only gripe is that it is about 20 minutes too long. I dont have anything against long movies provided they maintain the strength and energy of the plot, but at times I felt they could have made their points with a bit more efficiency. Other than that, this reviewer will be purchasing the Blu-Ray release.
This movie is horrible. I kept waiting for the pace to change and unfortunately, it remains slow, dull, and trite. Many of the so-called traditional messages exist, ie, human nature is savage, for the greater good, some not-so ethical behavior must occur, etc. etc. etc. Random music, random sequences, random slow-motion shots. The movie starts with the "Comic" getting thrown out the window-initially, the movie had some promise with a short sequence showing headlines of the original watchmen, then disintegrated rapidly into a bunch of nonsense. I wouldn't let kids see it-some soft porn scenes with repeated full frontal male shots throughout the movie.
This was a huge dissapointment
one of the worst movies I have
ever seen in my life. be very carefull letting kids in this movie, its not rated for fighting
there is a "porno" type seen with
full nudity, very cheesy. I have
never written a review, but had to
for this one. people actually walked out of the theater before it was over, and were laughing at the cheese ball scenes. if you like gorey, porno, and very little action this movie is for you.
