One of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Historically accurate, entertaining and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This movie should be nominated. I recommend anyone to go see it.... It is one I would like to buy on DVD.

this movie is a slow movie, but if you like conspiracy and suspension, You will like this. I saw this movie and walked out saying that it was kind of boring at some parts but some parts were really good. I recomend this to anyone who likes action/conspiracy/suspension.

If I could give it 3 1/2 stars I would but def not 4 stars and that is why i had to give it 3 stars. The story was quite interesting just because i had never heard it before (im not a history buff in any way shape or form) Such noble men with such noble ideas I wish though that Tom cruise would have played someone other than Tom Cruise he was not believable as a german general at all but if you get passed the awkwardness of that the story is good I watched a show on history channel right after i got home from the movie and it was so insync...that impressed me. I would prob say wait for it on dvd

I do not usually like war/hitler movies, but this one was different. Very good movie. And yes I am a girl! At 1st, I did not think I would like it because it started out with captions and german language. But quickly moved to English. Everyone needs to see this one,

Really, Tom Cruise as a German officer? I guess that wouldn’t be so bad, except that he ends up playing…Tom Cruise! Again! I don’t understand how the director could have watched his performance and thought “Wow, this is great stuff! I’m really buying him as a World War II German colonel!” Uh, no. His performance is the same squint-stare two-step we’ve seen from him his whole career. Not to be hating, but for me he ruined what is otherwise a good film. It’s nuts that such a plan to kill Hitler was even considered, let alone carried out by someone who was considered one of the biggest patriot heroes in Germany at the time. Even with Cruise chronically underplaying the part, I have to admit I was on the edge of my seat quite a few times. Too bad about the ending—I hate when Hollywood changes what really happens, but this time I definitely wished it had turned out differently. But it’s handled in the film pretty well, at least. If your Tom tolerance is high, then I can reccomend this one.

I wasn’t all that interested in Valkyrie until I learned it was director Bryan Singer re-teaming with writer Christopher McQuarrie, who worked with him on The Usual Suspects. Strange, because this is a completely different kind of movie. But for the most part, it works.

The story of how Claus von Stauffenberg and his fellow German officers plotted to kill Hitler during World War II isn’t all that well-known in this country, unless you watch a lot of The History Channel. But it’s a testament to man’s ability to stand up to true evil—sort of Schindler’s List from a military perspective. From what I understand, Valkyrie is extremely true to the story, and the fact that it really happened makes this tale of intrigue, deciet and double-crossing in wartime all the more fascinating.

The big sticking point is Tom Cruise. You’re either going to buy him as Stauffenberg or you’re not, they didn’t make any effort to make him seem more German or give him an accent or anything. I think that’s a good thing, although I have to admit Cruise was outclassed by the talent around him, namely Kenneth Branaugh and Tom Wilkinson, two of the best actors in the business. Still, Singer has shown that he can handle yet another genre, the war thriller, with his signature flair.

Valkyrie, the long awaited new Tom Cruise movie is surprisingly good. I never want to like Tom Cruise but he’s a good actor and fun to watch on the screen, I should learn to leave my biases at home. This movie is about a plot to kill Hitler, a plot that almost works (if that is a spoiler for you then you need to go back to school). And it builds tension the whole way through and you find yourself grabbing the seat and almost ripping through the fabric, even though you know how it has to end.

I liked that this German army was comprised of basically all British guys (except Cruise). But I am a big fan of all of them Kenneth Branagh, Tom Wilkinson, Bill Nighy, Carice van Houten and Eddy Izzard (yep the drag queen comedian), so I will overlook the lack of German boys. Directed by Bryan Singer (previous of Superman Returns but this movie is better) this film really pulls you in to this ingenious plot. Just makes you sad that it didn’t end up working.

This is an action packed thrilling movie that has a really good plot, which was based on true events. I liked it and if you like action movies or movies with great acting and a great story line then you should check this out.
