I did not like this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. It was way too much gore for my taste and the scares were cheap and predictable. I honestly do not understand why this film did not go straight to DVD and was released in theaters, it make no sense.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead was very dull and I did not like her in this film at all, it seemed that she was not even trying. The dialogue in this film was absolutely horrible and even laughable, I can not believe that the director thought that it was alright. Overall, I would not spend my money to see this film in the theaters but it might be fun to rent it if you are very bored.
would like to see the showtimes for this particular movie!
It's a Great THING to watch. Fan of the original, big fan of 1982 version, and must say Big Fan of this latest release. Yes, it's reminiscent of the Kurt Russell version, but if you liked that one, you'll be pleasantly pleased again. Great computer graphics and all characters did justice to their roles. MUST see if you're a previous fan or new to The Thing. Early reviews are off base. Good action and special effects that take the latest Thing to current CG standards.
Check it out for yourself and don't miss the closing scenes during he credits.
I did not like this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. The film was stupid and it had no original ideas at all, it was basically a copy of the original film and not a good copy, actually a very crappy one. I was very angry and disappointed and I wish I did not waste my time and money on this film. The film was not scary at all, there was no suspense and I could care less about any of the characters in the film. The original film was gazillion times better, I have no idea why the filmmakers decided to even make this film.
This is a sci/fi/horror film about Aliens that are frozen in Antarctica and are freed, the film is directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton and Ulrich Thomsen. I did not like this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. The film felt so fake and not genuine at all, I was very disappointed. There was no suspense in this film and that is terrible for a horror film, I was not scared at all and honestly did not really care what will happen to any of the characters. The film is has way too many details borrowed from the earlier film that I almost could not tell them apar except that this one sucked.
The Thing is a prequel to the 1982 John Carpenter film, so we get to find out what happened to the group of Norwegian scientists that bit the big one at the beginning of that film. But that's really the only thing that makes this a prequel. This is pretty much the same film. Well, without the suspense or scares that Carpenter brought to the original.
It's three days before the original film, and the group of Norwegian scientists has just found an alien spacecraft in Anarctica. An American palientologist joins them. They unfreeze an alien found in the ship, and the alien start its killing spree. It has the ability to take on the shape of whatever it attacks, so you're never sure if you're talking to a person or the alien about to kill you.
The film is a lot like the alien: it's got the shape of the original; in fact, it's not much different. But it's soulless. It's just a bunch of CGI death and mayhem, without any of the flair Carpenter brought. It's trying to make something serious out of something that didn't take itself that seriously in the first place, and by doing that, it just takes out all of the fun.
