Summer Wars is a Japanese animated film about an 11th grade math genius who agrees to take a summer job. It is a about the math genius and the other main character, his crush. When he arrives back at his home town, the family is already reunited in celebrating the matriarch’s 90th birthday. The genius’ attempt to solve a math problem causes major parallel world problems. The movie is extremely cool to watch. The visuals are spectacular and the story is good as well. It is a typical Japanese animation film like all the other animes. Even though I am not into anime at all, I really enjoyed this movie. Subtitles are not fun but usually you don’t miss much of the animation while trying to read along with the voices. This is a great family film as long as the young kids are old enough to read the subtitles. Even without reading the subtitles, it is still easy to enjoy this movie.
