I have not seen the original film and everybody keeps telling me that it was way better than this one. I thought the film was alright, it was way too much violence for me but my friend(who is a guy) seemed to enjoy that part of it, I guess it all depends on taste and prefrences. Anyway, I thought that the relationship between the husband and the wife was kind of boring and the director could have made it much more intense. I am not sure the film should be called a thriller, it felt more like a scary movie which is fine by me. Overall, I think that the film is not worth the price of the movie ticket and you will be better off watching it at home.

I did not like this film because I saw the original 1970’s one and it was much much better than this remake. If you have not seen the original, you might like this one. I think that the actions of the characters in this film did not make much sense, especially the actions of Amy who is scared of the rednecks but goes hunting with them, what?! The film is really slow in the beginning and it unravels in the end with a lot of violence and nastiness. Overall, I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters, especially if you saw the original.

Straw Dogs is an interesting film. Is it good or bad? I'm still not sure. It's very similar to Sam Peckinpah's original, but dissimilar enough that it doesn't seem like a ripoff. It's disturbing at points, and has interesting points on the difference between being macho and being a man, but there's still that premise, left over from the original, that gives me an uneasy feeling.
James Marsden is a screenwriter, moving back with his wife to her Mississippi so she can take care of her dead dad's hurricane damaged homestead and he can write his epic film. There they meet up with some rednecks who proceed to torment the couple, eventually raping the wife and making their stay all around unpleasant. Eventually, the Hollywood geek must man up and protect his own.
The original was known for its questionable rape scene, where the wife almost seemed to be enjoying it. There is no question in this film how Kate Bosworth's Amy feels. It doesn't make the film any less hard to watch. It's still a brutal film, which goes along with the themes. And as I've mentioned, it's an interesting rumination on manhood. But is it something you'll want to see on a Friday night? I'm not so sure.

I did not like this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. I saw the original 1971 film and it was way better than this remake. I think that the film needed different actors and a better screenplay. The original film was intriguing and different, while this remake is simplified and becomes mainly about the culture clash between red/blue state. James Mardsen can not pull the weight of the character the way Dustin Hoffman did and in the end the character has learned nothing, which is a real disappointment.

This is a drama about a couple who get attacked by the locals, the film is directed by Rod Lurie and stars James Marsden, Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgård. I did not like this film and i do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. The film did not work and was not even close to the original movie that was made in 1971. I think the main problem of the film is that it has wrong actors, the other problem is that it is pretty stupid and mostly does not make sense. I do not know why the director decided to remake the film in the first place, it was totally unnecessary.
