AWESOME movie, would see it again!! For the people who think that it is too Christian based and is having Christianity pushed down their throats, I would say just walk out as I would do if it were a "dirty" movie or if there was a lot of foul language.....

Wow, what a touching movie! The acting was a little uneven and forced, except for the main character, maybe, but even so this was a tearjerker. I hear the book is even better. Great for audience members of all ages.

This film was definitely made for faith based communities and while the story is very inspiring and touching, I do not like films that are preachy and films that try to stuff their religion down my throat. Christianity is like another character in the film and it always reminds the audience that Bethany persevered because of her faith and that the accident was a part of some bigger plan (which is ridiculous). The film is beautiful visually and the cast did a solid job with their characters. The film is also very well produced and it is a good and clean family film.

There should be more movies like this one. An amazing true story of Bethany - a teenage competitive surfer whose arm is bitten off by a shark. She and her family support each other, and their spiritual faith supports them in overcoming this huge obstacle. This story is inspirational and a great lesson about putting our difficulties in perspective. Great for teenagers and adults. The shark bite and blood might give young children nightmares. The filming of the Hawaiian oceans and the surfing are beautiful and amazing. See it on the BIG screen to take in the full impact of it. I can only guess that because this movie has not advertised or not much, that it hasn't hit the top of the charts. I will see this movie again and that is rare.

This is an incredibly moving story of faith about Bethany Hamilton who has her dreams of being a pro surfer setback at the age of 13 when her left arm is bitten off by a 14 foot Tiger shark while surfing. Fighting all odds Bethany returns to surfing and becomes a champion. The film is very entertaining with a fine cast, including Anna Sophia Robb as Bethany, with a wonderful supporting cast of Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid as her parents and the film debut of Carrie Underwood as a youth counselor. All in all this is a grade A movie. In fact, I liked it so much I am going to see it again tomorrow.

It was a pretty incredible story: 13 year old surfer loses most of her arm to a shark and comes back a month later to surf again. It would have made a great movie...WOULD have. Instead, we're stuck with Soul Surfer, a religious after school special disguised as main stream entertainment. The biggest problem with Soul Surfer is that it's just too sunny, too glossy. Bethany, our heroine, goes through what, I imagine, is one of the most horrific things a human can go through, yet, there are no speed bumps on her road to recovery. Her faith keeps her going. I'm not the most religious person in the world, but I have some faith, and even I, in my times of weakness, go through some dark nights of the soul. Bethany never does. Neither do her parents, or, really, anyone in this film. All of the so called drama is very superficial, and you're never far from a joyous, faith based moment. A film that included some actual soul searching would have been pretty interesting. This movie is just pandering to a demographic.

I really really liked this film and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. I felt inspired and stronger after this film and it is definitely an amazing story about courage and strength and passion. i love movies like that, when you see a film and you feel inspired and uplifted. the actors in the film did an a amazing job and I think AnnaSophia Rodd is a great young actress and and she has a great futre in Hollywood. Helen Hunt was amazing as always and I enjoyed Denise Quaid as usual. Overall, I loved this film and would probably see it again.
