I really liked this film and highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. It looks very simply and some might say boring at first but once you get into it, you can not believe how great it is. I found this film to be entertaining and endearing and also very soothing in a very unexpected way. Birbiglia has an interesting life story to tell and it is nice to know that even if you fail spectacularly, you can still be alright or even happy. The thing that I liked the most about this film is that it was very honest with the audience and that is admirable. Overall, I had a great time watching this movie and I think most people will enjoy it as much as I did. -
Sleepwalk With Me features one of my favorite comedians, Mike Birbiglia. I couldn’t tell if this was a true story or not but it sure seemed like it. The movie is about a struggling comedian who is in a very bad place, including a spiraling relationship, and worst of all sleepwalking, which he is content to try to ignore as long as possible. The movie was definitely different than any other movie about a stand up. The movie tried to say a lot of things about avoidance, depression, and other emotions. It isn’t as much of a movie about failure-to-launch but about the rest of life that comes with that effect. I enjoyed the movie but not sure who else would.
