This is a good movie, but no where near as great or as memorable as the other feature Karkovsky has directed "Red Flag" which is playing with this feature at the Tribeca Film Festival. He also stars in this movie and this one is well written and acted, but the genre does feel kind of forced. I wish that the film industry would stop trying to force surprises on audiences and just let them naturally unfold. Sometimes you can feel where the story is going and the surprise turns out to be not so much a surprise as a slew of disappointments that the tension in the movie has been wasted on something you kind of expected from the beginning. That being said, the movie is good throughout, especially the acting, with Karkovsky really playing his weirdo mad scientist character to the hilt. The lead actress is also quite good and I think that this will win a few indie awards next year.
