Rango Movie Reviews
User reviews on Rango
I am so happy that these kind of animated films are being made and I had a chance to see it as well. First of all, the film looks amazing and very different from what the audience is used to seeing in animated films. In my opinion, the animation is steered more towards adults and i absolutely love that. My children also enjoyed it but i think i liked it much more then they did. Th animation is meant to look like a western and it definitely does. Johnny Depp is perfect as Rango and I can not imagine that anybody else could have done a better job with this character. Absolutely everything in this film is perfect: the cast, the visuals, the music, the dialogue and the storyline. I loved this film and I guarantee that you will love it as well.
Considering this is a PG film that people will assume that they can take their children to see, it should be reviewed in that context. Let's see, 1) curse words H*** and D*** are said so many times that you lose count.... 2)Numerous sexual innuendo and references to lesbians and big genitals and breasts....3)Evolutionary theory is taught and spiritual things are made light of (God is a clint eastwood character).....the people that are raving about this must not have any children or are BRAIN DEAD...oh thats right, we're supposed to be delighted that the kids will get exposed to other films about drugheads like Hunter S. Thompson? If you really want to get a good idea of what is in the film, go to ChristianSpotLight. cowebsite and read the reviews of normal parents who went to see it.
What an amazing movie it was! I highly recommend seeing it if you are an adult or you want to see it with your family. The film was full of amazing action scenes and it was witty and sweet in the same time. The movie also had some really scary scenes and referenced a lot of great movies like Apocalypse Now and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. It is definitely not a typical animation and it is absolutely wonderful to see something completely different coming from Hollywood. The action scenes are amazing and the camera work is beautiful. The story unfolds in a very logical way and it creates tension and keeps the audience interested throughout the whole film. Hans Zimmer's music was absolutely amazing and this guy outdoes himself in every film. Johnny Depp was awesome as always and the rest of the cast was very good as well.
Absolutely loved this animation and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. The film is full of action and it is very funny as well. The animation looks so different from what I have seen before and it was very nice to be surprised in this day and age of amazing animations. The animation is not colorful and the main character is so different and it makes the movie so unique and fresh. There were a lot of references to other movies (like “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”) and I really like that the children will be exposed to that. All the characters in the film are amazing and interesting and lovable in their own way. The only bad thing I have to say about the film is the length, it was too long. Besides that, I really liked this film and I had a great time.
Rango is that rare film these days: an animated movie not made by Pixar that's genuinely entertaining. From me, that's high praise. It's a weird, wild ride into the West. It's vibrant, funny, and unlike most cartoons, actually feels like a movie, thanks to the work of Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski and his Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp.
Rango (voiced by Depp) is a terrarium-living lizard who is accidentally thrown out into the Mojave Desert. He finds himself in the town of Dirt, where his accidental killing of a menacing eagle turns him into a reluctant hero and the new sheriff. He must then defeat the aptly named Rattlesnake Jake, and find out why the town is losing its water.
It's kind of a cooky story, and one that's not easily followed, but that doesn't really matter when the characters are so well thought out. The movie is genuinely funny, and though it references a lot of other films along the way, it's done with reverence instead of snark. The voice acting is excellent, with some of the cast coming from a Western background. It's really just a fun, weird film that's completely worth your time.
