If you are looking to be entertained, do not go see this film. I am not saying that in a bad way, the movie was absolutely teriffic, but it is definitely not a happy movie. The film is about grief and it studies it in depth. It is about two people, Becca(Nicole Kidman) and Howie(Aaron Eckhart), dealing with a loss of their child in very different ways. The movie is very minimalistic but it explores human emotions very deeply. Nicole Kidman is absolutely mesmerizing and I think it is her best performance yet. Aaron Eckhart was amazing as well and i am so mad that he was not recognized for his wonderful performance. The movie is not all gloomy, it has funny moments that make it that much better. I absolutely loved this film and I do recommend everyone to see it.
It is a very sad and emotionally charged film about how people deal with profound sense of loss. The movie is full of dark human emotions and sorrow but in the same time it gives you hope that time can heal and even though your life will never be the same it can be good again. Nicole Kidman gives her best performance yet as a grieving mother who refuses help from anyone. Nicole definitely overwhelms the film a little bit, but in a good way, her performance is so strong that it is justifiable. I can almost guarantee that she will get an Oscar for this role, and she truly deserves it. Aaron Eckhart gives a very strong performance as well, but like i said before Nicole dominates the screen. It is not a happy movie and you might feel uneasy after but I definitely recommend seeing it. If not for the story, then for absolutely amazing acting.
