Putty Hill is a dramatic film about suburban life. It was a little weird to watch because I haven’t seen many movies like this. The movie consists of many interviews taken over a few days. I felt like the movie was able to tell a big story but at the same time not say very much at all. I know this doesn’t make sense but that is the feeling I got from this film. For such standard lives, the characters in the movie are portrayed as having pointless and meaningless lives. The director was definitely trying to understand the people he was interviewing. At times you could hear him pressing the interviews with quick questions off camera, which was kind of cool. The director definitely respected the interviewees and didn’t take any cheap shots at them. I really enjoyed this film but I can assume it wouldn’t be for everyone.
