The best movie of the year, of this, of the year past and of the year to come. About a young middle eastern, French & Arabic speaker, citizen of France, who goes to prison. Very gritty and realistic. The director, Audiard, has made two other films that I've seen, "Read My Lips" and "The Beat My Heart Skipped." They were very very good films and this new one is even a little bit better. Not romantic, glamorous, melodramatic, overdone, or sentimental. The violence is credible and there is enough of it to make you think that French prisons are just a little less fun than American prisons.
