Go for it, other animation studios. Try and live up to the amazing standards that Pixar has set. I know I pretty much said the same thing in my review of ASTRO BOY, but it's not my fault these studios can't make films up to that level. It also doesn't help that they keep making stuff like PLANET 51, a great idea in search of a movie. The film finds astronaut Chuck (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) landing on a supposedly uninhabited planet, only to find a civilization of aliens living in a 1950s suburban setting. The film uses this opportunity to skewer that era's alien paranoia by having the human become the scary alien and vice versa. Chuck is taken in by awkward teenager Lem (voice by the dude from the Mac commercials), and they spend the rest of the movie trying to keep Chuck away from those who would extract the brain out of this strange creature. In between, there's a lot of chases aren't really exciting, and jokes that aren't that funny. There's also a lot of references to science fiction films that just aren't that great. Hey look, it's a dog that looks like the alien from ALIEN that pees acid. That's hilarious! (Read the sarcasm.) The film pilfers jokes like that from other, much more superior films, until it you just makes want to watch those other movies instead of watching this waste of time.
