This senior citizen thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I found it funny and bittersweet. Beth Midler did a great job, along with Billy Crystal. Go to the theater and see it. You will enjoy it! Don't be cynical, live a little, laugh much!

Let's put this movie in context. If you are a parent with young kids, you will love this movie. It is very wholesome and truly funny. Billy Crystal was totally funny. My kids (8 and 6) totally loved it, too.

Too many "critics" on here have squawked about the supporting cast. Bette Midler was really good. Everybody else was decent. Nothing horrible, nothing great, just normal.

A few tear jerker moments near the end (Being a guy, I tried to casually wipe a few tears from my eyes without getting noticed). All-in-all, a very good movie to see with the family.

I saw this film with my whole family and we all had an alright time watching it, however I do not recommend seeing this film in the theaters. The film felt outdated and a bit sappy, the youngest members of my family enjoyed it the most due to the fact that the adults in the film were acting ridiculous and that brought a lot of joy to the kids. I think that the main flaw of this film was that the characters were not believable, well actually the older couple was but everyone else was highly unbelievable. The film also kind of ran out of jokes by the end and became extremely sappy and melodramatic which annoyed me a lot. Overall, there are better family films than this one and I suggest you skip this one.

Sorry folks, but I loved it. I highly recommend seeing this film, and yes, see it in the theater. Sure, the story line is predictable. But it's a good story (second chances and loosening up an uptight family of kids), and it's incredibly funny. I can't call it a chick flick, but it's a good wholesome family movie.

Constant amusement.........great acting..........even jerked a tear or two. Don't miss this.

Now, if you don't like Billy Crystal or Bette Midler, well then you'll hate the film. We loved it, and I'd bet most of you will too.

I am visiting my family for the Holidays and I have a huge family so seeing a film with everybody is a hard thing to do because of different tastes and ages. Anyway, I thought this film will do because it has something for the kids and the older audience. I thought the film was alright, I would have never seen it if I was not visiting my family, but I had an okay time watching it. I thought Bette Midler and Billy Crystal did a great job and I really enjoyed their performances, however the rest of the cast were not that good and definitely not believable.

I saw this film with my whole family and none of us liked it. I am disappointed to say that because i love Bette Midler and Billy Crystal and i think that they are great actors and they were amazing in this film, however the film itself was really bad and it did not deserve the cast that it had. The film was not funny at all, i mean the jokes were horrible and the film was full of stupid cliches and stereotypes. THe film offers a flat and confused look at generational differences. I saw it with 10 members of my family whose ages range from 10 years old to 85 years old and there was not a one person that enjoyed watching this film, so i do not recommend seeing it in the theaters.

Every Christmas they come out with these sappier than thou family movies that are supposed to be innocuous fun. Seems like they usually get the innocuous part right and then forget the fun. This one's about second chances, with Billy Crystal and Bette Midler playing everyone dream Jewish parents, except that in this one they are really bad at everything except bickering. They end up having to watch their grandkids over the holidays which leads to all kinds of wackiness that is probably better suited to a si. coon ABC Family. They also try to make amends for what they did to their kids when they were raising them except that both kids and parents have to reconcile themselves to their shortcomings. It all ends nice and tidy. Billy Crystal and Bette Midler are still national treasures in my book, but they deserve better material than this. Probably only worth watching if you have to take the kids and your parents.
