My boyfriend pretty much dragged me to see this film and even though I was very reluctant, I agreed. I have to say that I did not hate it as much as I thought I will. Yes, this film has a huge budget and CGI is all over the place and there are giant monsters and giant robots battling each other, but the film had a pretty decent story and I felt that the characters were also developed. We saw it in 3D and I think it was worth the extra cash because it looked amazing. Guillermo Del Toro does not usually direct huge budget films like this but I think he did a pretty good job with it. Overall, the film was entertaining and not too long and if you like monster movies, you will definitely love this one.
I did not expect to like this film at all and I am glad to say that I kind of did and I think it is worth seeing in the theaters. I saw the film in 3D and I think it is definitely worth the extra cash. The film looked quite incredible visually and I actually enjoyed the story as well. I am not saying that it did not have flaws, however for a big blockbuster film it is pretty good and very entertaining. Guillermo Del Toro is not a director who usually does films like this one and I think he did a great job with it. The film was not cynical or sarcastic at all and I actually found that pretty refreshing. Overall, it is a great summer film that will be enjoyed by many people and I definitely recommend seeing it on the big screen.
