Other Woman (2011) Movie Reviews

Unlike everybody else I do not think Natalie Portman is that great of an actress. I think she is good and is capable of giving a god performance, but I do not think she is a superb actress. This film “Other Woman” kind of proofs my point. Natalie Portman was able to give an O.K performance that you will forget the minute you leave the theater. She was very uneven in her performance and made me confused about her character. I mean the movie itself was uneven and contradicting but a good actress would have been able to hide some of the loopholes in the film. I guess i am ranting a little bit, but she really disappointed me with her performance. The movie was interesting but not entertaining and had some ridiculous moments that did not make any sense. Overall, I would suggest renting it and deciding for yourself.
I was a bit confused after this film. I was not sure how to feel about Natalie Poertman’s character, should I feel pity for her or should I hate her? It was a very uneven performance for Natalie Portman and not on a good complex way, in a way that made me confused. The storyline itself was pretty good and it could have been a very powerful and emotional movie, but it lacked something, maybe because the characters were not reletable and not very likable. I could not get over the way Portman’s character treated her stepson William. One minute she was very nice to him and another minute she was unbelievably cruel, it made me confused about their relationship. Charlie Tahan, who played William, was really good and he definitely has a bright future in Hollywood. Lisa Kudrow’s character was so horrible and b@#$y and a little unbelievable, it is sad because I think Lisa is a great actress, but that role was not good for her. In conclusion, I think I would have been better off renting this film.
So the movie was whatever, it actually made me pretty sad and I do not like to feel that way after I see a movie. Natalie Portman gave a very uneven performance. She was believable when she had to portray coldness and not believable when she had to be warm and understanding. I thought that the whole movie kind of relied on her and she was not able to pull it off. I felt that the movie was too heavy and in the same time did not reach the depths it could have reached with the material. I also thought that Lisa Kudrow’s character was destroyed by terrible writing and Scott Cohen’s character was so boring and blant. I think he did the best he could with it, but the role was poorly defined and simply not interesting. Overall, I think the movie lacked in a lot of ways and i do not recommend seeing it, maybe renting it would be a better idea.
