“Die Hard” with a character who actually knows how to gather equipment alone the way and use it. In the movie the Whitehouse gets destroyed, but it's time we had a new one to replace the retro-fitted relic, which would better serve as a museum. With times being what they are, the President deserves a living quarters hardened to withstand the assault depicted in the movie.
I Did Not Like my experience at the atl theater on camp creek the people were shouting at the screen and making rude comments about
the peole and the movie! I wish I went somewhere else! They do NOT turn on any air in the summer. Fights break out there! you can see it on youtube!
I think this is Antoine Fuqua master peace... The story, the acting and the dialog blows that GI Joe monstrosity out of the water… Forget the bad reviews. This is a good movie
Morgan Freeman as a president. I thought Obama was a joke.
Don't waste your time seeing this movie. Very predictable and reflective of the current administration's aattitude towards everything - the military, the ability of one super-heroic guy (no women truly involved in 'getting it right'), who takes down dozens of bad guy North Koreans.
Even one ridiculously difficult head- shot with a glock-style pistol at over 50 yards on a female sniper with a scope. Anyone shooting a glock knows there is not that kind of super-natural accuracy inherrent in the gun.
But the script is dull, the fighting boring, even the hand-to-hand representations, when compared to any Strathan or Bourne movie. . Plus there is the obligatory smack down the the miilitary while faking patriotism, that seems obligatory these days. . Be aware they are trying to pull all your strings to make you hate the terrorists and support the stupid actions of the President and acting President.
The only thing this movie does, is try to make a case why the government needs to buy 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition (enough for a 24 year Iraq war).
The poor White House just can’t be kept safe. If it’s not alien invaders, it’s Middle Eastern terrorists; and now we have a new enemy: the North Koreans! Let’s call them Kim Jong Kick Ass.
In Olympus Has Fallen we have a patently absurd popcorn movie scenario in which the White House is stormed by North Korean terrorists who have taken the President hostage. But that’s not the most unbelievable part: the crazy thing is that the President of the United States is a White Guy! And he’s Aaron Eckhart no less. Imagine Mitt Romney but with better hair.
His secret service guy is played by Gerard Butler, so you know right off the bat that this is gonna go into macho overdrive very soon. But Butler seems little interested in protecting the President. He really just wants to kick some Commie Korean booty. It’s derivative and crude – and yes, it’s designed to be. So the target audience will like what it sees.
Morgan Freeman pops up as the first African American Speaker of the House. He also pretty much just sleep walks through his role. But if the actors seem bizarrely understated for such an over-the-top enterprise, the action sequences don’t disappoint. For anyone who likes to see the Most Powerful Man on Earth in mortal peril, this is the movie for you. It’s Die Hard in the White House on steroids and sans the recently geriatric delusion.
I was quite excited to see this film and had high expectations for it, however I was disappointed in the end and I do not think it is worth seeing in the theaters. The film was extremely predictable and it felt that I have seen this film many times before. The patriotism in the film felt superficial and the dialogue was quite lame and predictable. My boyfriend thought that the film was very entertaining but i just could not get over the fact that it was incredibly dumb and there was no logic in it whatsoever. Overall, I think this film was quite silly and I do not recommend seeing it.
I have to say that I had a good time watching this film and if you want to see an entertaining thriller this is a film for you. Do not expect this film to be smart or original and just leave your brain in the lobby and if you do that, I guarantee that you will have a great time. The film was definitely suspenseful and the action scenes were absolutely great, and I really enjoyed Gerry Butler as a secret agent, he was very believable. The pace of the film was great and I was definitely not bored while watching this movie. Overall, if you like thrillers, I recommend seeing this one in the theaters.
