I was very excited to see this film because Monsters Inc. is one of my most favorite animations ever. I took my niece to see it with me and she insisted on watching it in 3D. I think the film looked great in 3D and it is worth the extra cash. I thought the film was pretty good, it was charming and witty and my niece and I both had fun watching it. It is not the most original of the Pixar films but I liked it and I think it will please a wide audience. The characters were great and the storyline was fun and honest. Overall, it is a great summer film for the whole family and I think it is worth seeing on the big screen.

I thought this was a great animation and I recommend seeing it in the theaters. I have never seen the first film but my brother’s kid loved the first movie and he begged me to take him to see this one. I usually do not like watching films in 3D but as a good aunt I purchased the tickets to see this movie in 3D and I think it was worth the extra cash, the film looked great. My nephew had fun watching this film and so did I, I thought it was quite charming and smart. The characters were really great and I thought the film was quite funny, I am definitely going to rent Monsters Inc. and see what that film is all about.

Even though I'm kinda bummed that Disney opted to make "Frozen" a 3D animated adventure instead of a traditional 2D hand drawn one (you'll see the trailer with MU), I haven't given up my faith in Pixar. Yes, Cars 2 was underwhelming and Brave didn't quite go to the level we were hoping it would, but the house of the bouncing lamp is still the best animation house in the business and seeing Monsters University in 3D will put all your fears to ease that their quality may be eroding. Seeing the film in 3D really does add a special element of a fourth dimension to your viewing experience, though if you see it in its regular format you won't be missing too much. I'd say that anyone who still remembers what it was like to be a kid and to have nightmares and anyone who loved the original Monsters Inc will love this film. It's fun and fancy free and full of jokes for the whole family. (Hey Pixar: Make it a trilogy!)

Um, ok, first things first: if you are in New York or LA (or possibly Chicago) you get to see Monsters University two days earlier than everyone else. And two: why are you still reading this??! Get thee to a theater near you! I am serious! This is the best movie I have seen all summer - it's much better than the disappointment that was "Man of Steel" - wow, was it so cheerless, and it's hella better than the glamorous bag of poop that was "The Great Gatsby". And don't even get me started on "After Earth" - I still want my money back! But this one is a doozy in the best way. It makes everything senseless seem magical, and makes everything about going to school and being with friends familiar again. I really loved the story and the characters and music are all so engaging. I doubt I'll be seeing a better movie this summer, so I already made plans to go back. Y'all better do the same!

Well, kids, they've done it again! Pixar has taken one of its favorite originals and turned it into a franchise that even Walt Disney himself would be proud of. Mike and Sulley are back and better than ever. This story is about how the came to be monsters that haunt the closets of kids everywhere. It's a cutesy look at what it takes to become a monster, complete with the typical college hijinks and the competitions every university student goes through to prove their worth. My favorite character in the story is Mike - he is always funny in nearly every line and he makes the whole movie feel like it's just 15 minutes long. I would even go so far as to say he's the star of the show. Without him, there's no movie. I would say this one is even better than Cars 2 or either of the Toy Story sequels. It's also on par with last year's Pixar masterpiece, Brave.

As much as it pains me to say this, I think the time has come to acknowledge that the inevitable has come to pass: Pixar has peaked. Their storytelling is still solid, but it's not as magical as it once was. Maybe it's the fact that this is a sequel, but then again I think of the Toy Story sequels and they were both amazing films. This one is nice and funny and entertaining, but it doesn't have the heart of the original, or even of the better Pixar movies like Up and Ratatouille. Also, I think this is the first Pixar movie since Cars 2 that will be liked more by the kids than the adults. Eh. That being said, it's a treat to watch it in 3D because it has some amazing graphics and the animation is utterly resplendent. All in all, I would say this comes close to the Pixar style but doesn't match it. I still recommend it but more so on a visual level than on a narrative one.
