This was a great movie up til the end. A year and a half ago we had to put our loving family dog down. Anybody that has been in the same boat as me does not want to bring yourself or your family to see this movie. Or atleast leave the last 15 minutes of the movie. The fact that they show the whole thing with the needle going into the tube is wrong. I didn\'t want to see it done to my dog and then to have to see that and watch myself and my children break down runined the whole movie for me. My family walked out as a big mess in tears.

This movie is NOT for family viewing; at least for family members under 17 years old. \\n\\nHollyweird managed to take an innocent \\\"children\\\'s\\\" story and turn it into another piece of movie trash by adding sexual scenes/overtones and inappropriate language that adds nothing to the plot, story line or character development...they sell more movie tickets with a PG rating versus a G rating. \\n\\nThe movie has little to do with a dog and more to do with the lead characters trying to find happiness and purpose before they reach middle age. The movie fails with our without the dog; the dog is good for the studio marketing department and nothing else.\\n\\nIf you want to see a great movie about a dog and save money and time, rent Turner and Hooch.

A wonderfully acted out movie with great actors and a cute dog!!!! A definate must see. All the review below are just crap so see this heartbreaking yet fascinating, fun-filled movie with a tension to laugh till u cry and cry till u laugh....if that makes sense....But see it! Jennifer Anniston was phenomenal!!

I read the book and after reading all the reviews below, I'm quite hesitant to see it. Although, the ending is predictable, I don't really want to go through those emotions all over again. Somehow, that's not entertaining to me. I think I'll pass on this one.

Bloated, overdone drama, with poor acting with predictable results, than the dog dies and everyone cries, the scene after scene of bad dog tricks get boring real fast, but they still love the dog no matter how predictable the movie gets, give it a pass, even as a dog lover this movie bites.

Though this was not a "bad" movie, it certainly was not a Christmas movie. It was advertised as a fun family movie perfect for a Christmas night visit to the theatre. I did take my niece, fiance, and cousin only to be disappointed. They movie builds you up to love a dog they kill off in the end... Merry Christmas and donate to your local ASPCA or animal shelter.

Not a PG movie! It should be PG-13 at best. The movie is little about a dog and more about a man trying to find himself. The movie has too many adult connotations, sex and nakedness, to be seen by children. Marley is funny and he\'ll make you laugh and cry for sure!

My nine year old daughter, three year old c***apoo, and I (age above 40) read and enjoyed the book together. Although I was hesitant about the PG rating,my husband was eager to find a non-animated flick for the family's Christmas day tradition. What a commentary of our culture that a movie touted as "a family event" was compelled to include profane language and more-than-suggestive scenes of sexuality. We packed up our belongings twice with the intention of leaving the theater, but held on because of the comic scenes with Marley that were handily interspersed. Overall, our recommendation is to stick with the book, which is available in three versions; adult, young adult, and youth.
