In lesser hands, "Magic Mike" would be "Showgirls" (not that there's anything wrong with that). But Steven Soderbergh is not lesser hands. He's a consummate professional who knows how to show the whole of life in his movies: sometimes funny, sometimes dark. This is not to say that "Magic Mike" is next year's best picture winner, but it's a lot deeper than it ought to be. The film stars Channing Tatum as the title character. Tatum also produced the film, as its based on his experiences as a stripper. Mike does odd jobs during the day, strips at night, and has dreams of starting his own business. He meets Adam on a construction gig, and brings Adam into the world of male stripping. From here, we get to see the fun and not so fun side of the job, from the ladies to the drugs to the money. What separates this movie from a lesser film is that its not just a frothy comedy. There's some real drama going on here, and we feel like we actually get to know these guys. The movie also doesn't pull punches, going to some pretty dark places. The acting is overall excellent, topped by Matthew McConaughey as the guy that runs the strip club. It may not be high art, but it is an entertaining movie, even for guys who aren't interested in the dudes on display.

I can not believe I am saying this but I liked this film and I think it is worth seeing in the theaters. I thought I will hate this film and that my review will be harsh but the reality is that I had a great time watching it. The film is raunchy, funny and very honest about sex and selling it. The plot of the film was quite good and the characters are pretty well developed and compelling. I am not going to lie, there is a lot of eye candy in this film and an abundance of pecks and buns that is kind of fun to watch. Overall, I think the film was fun and entertaining and it is worth the price of the movie ticket.

My friends and I were having a girls night out and after couple of drinks we decided to see this film so we could laugh our asses off but in all honesty I kind of liked this film and I think it is worth seeing in the theaters. The film is really raunchy and entertaining and I have no shame in saying that the main attraction of this film is Tatum and Soderbergh. Surprisingly the characters were well developed and compelling and Channing Tatum gives a solid performance, I have to say that every time i see him in a film is getting better and better and I think one day he will surprise us all. Overall, I think this film is entertaining and fun and it is worth seeing in the theaters.
