I did not like this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. This is a debut film for the director so I do not want to be too harsh, however the film failed on many levels and I hope that the director will learn from his mistakes. The dialogue and the soundtrack was great but that does not make a movie, it is not enough. I also feel that the director tried to put too much stuff in one film and the end result is rushed and confusing. I think the director has potential and there is some charisma in the film but he definitely needs to polish up his style and edit quite a bit. Overall, it is not terrible but i would not suggest seeing it in the theaters.

I think that this film is not too bad for a debutant William Monahan, but I hope he will do much better in the future. The film had too many subplots that did not connect well and there was always something going on, I had no time to digest most of the stuff that I saw. The dialogue in the film was great and the sound track rocked, unfortunately these things do not make a good film. I can see that the director has a certain style and I really like that, all he needs to do now is to polish it and next film will be great. Overall, I do not recommend seeing this film in the theaters but I am curious to see Monahan’s next film.

This is a romantic film about an ex-con who is hired to look after an actress and he falls in love with her, the film is directed by William Monahan and stars Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley and Ray Winstone. The first time director William Monahan missed with this one, I am reluctant to be too harsh on him but how else is he going to learn? First of all, the film is packed with way too much stuff and there is not enough time to absorb it all and many subplots do not connect in a logical and easily explainable way. I do have some positive things to say as well, the dialogue was very strong and interesting and the cast did a really good job as well, even Colin Farrel was not bad (I am biased because I can not stand the guy). Overall, the film is not worth seeing in the theaters but if you are bored one night, you might enjoy this film.
