Life of Pi Movie Reviews

A wonderful movie! This is one you want to take the whole family to. The story is beautifully acted and has something for just about everyone's tastes.I'm generally not a big fan of 3D, if it's not done right, it distracts from the movie. That's not the case here though, the story is so engrossing and the 3D cinematography just flows along with the film.I'm sure I would have loved the movie even if I hadn't seen it in 3D, but I'm glad I paid the few extra bucks this time. Not since Avatar has a movie been so well suited for 3D.
The movie is kind of a coming of age story about Pi a boy who's family owns a zoo and lives in India. The family is forced to sell the zoo and pursue their dreams in America. All of this takes place just as Pi is becoming a young man and has just fallen in love. Now he is forced to leave his new love and his beloved zoo behind. Disaster strikes during the voyage to America and the story chronicles Pi's survivor tale. This movie has many life lessons intertwined in the plot, and suffice it to say...things aren't always what they seem. One of the great perks of this movie is that if you are fortunate enough to be able to take the family, the movie will provide plenty of enriching things to discuss long after the movie is over.
STUNNING! My sister and I watched it and couldn't stop talking about it for days. The cinematography is breath-taking and the story held your attention. Loved this film so much I bought the book and look forward to reading it.
This movie is just wonderful. It's very deep, powerful, beautifully filmed and well-directed.
I see many similarities from the film to our life on earth. The long, lonely and full of events journey on the ocean is like we're going through our life on earth and what the boy experienced during the journey is similar to what we have to go through in life. The boy was so fearful of the shipwreck and he called out to his loved one, but he lost them all to start a very dreadful & dangerous journey on a vast ocean with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra and a mighty bengal tiger. We can think of the shipwreck as our entry to this world, when we were born, we cry as if we didn't want to leave the mother's womb where we're supposed to be fed, protected having peaceful sleep.. we are fearful of this very imperfect world, full of hardships, challenges and ugly things as we saw how the hyena attacked and killed the zebra and the orangutan. We surely have many of those evil characters in our life on earth but the mighty tiger killed the ugly hyen to sart the journey with just him and the boy.
I can't help but comparing the tiger in the journey to the presence of God in our life. The boy's fear of the mighty tiger kept his mind alert to fight off other dangers around him so he survived, The fact that the boy had to tend to the tiger's needs kept up the boy's desire to want to live on so he could save the tiger. We fear God but at the same time we also adore him and want to please him and glorify his name.
It's very interesting how and why the boy grew up believing in three different religions. He was a christian, muslim and also Hindu :-) and then at the end he told the reporter the same story of his jurney only that the animals wre replaced by people.
At the end of the boy's journey, the tiger simply disappeared into the jungle because he had been with the boy to help him through his dangerous journey and now he would leave the boy so he could go on having a good life with his own family. so he's gone since he will seeing the boy again ?? the message seems to be that God would help us throughout our lives and leaves us when we're strong enough to go on our own but he will see us again when we leave this temporary world.
This is a drama about a young man who survives a disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. The film is based on a novel by Yann Martel and I have read the book and absolutely loved it. I was doubtful about the film because it is usually never as good as the book but this film proved me wrong and I had a great time watching it. The film was absolutely beautiful visually and the story was told very well. The film invites you to believe in amazing things and it is easy to do so because the film looks incredible. Overall, I highly recommend seeing this film on the big screen.
I absolutely loved this film and highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. The film was interesting, fun to watch, and absolutely mesmerizing visually. I am thinking of seeing it again in 3D because i bet it looks even better in 3D. The film had a great story with amazing characters and great actors that made everything believable and lovely. The imagination of this film is endless and even though the events that take place in this film are fictional for some reason everything feels very real. The film is very well made and defined and I think it is one of the best films of this year.
