The pace of the movie a languid, the atmosphere chilly. This sweet coming of age story with all the anxieties of burgeoning adolescence is cleverly folded into a surprisingly gruesome vampire tale. Wild images suddenly fly off the screen in the midst of the calm: spntneious immolation, a cat attack, draining blood like from humans like cattle, and the stitched up place that might once have been a v****. And more! Gads! The plot is pretty cool when you think about where this story must be headed after the very creepy last sequence! Don't miss this bizarre and atmospheric movie. It's a great reworking of a horror film.
Forget about 'Twilight,' this is how a teen vamp movie should be. Oskar is the target of bullies until he meets Eli, the daughter of the local weirdo. She works at night, helping her dad with some seriously ick-some murders, but she also proves to be a friend to the lonely boy. This Swedish thriller rings some cool changes on the genre. Highly recommended.
