Jumping the Broom Movie Reviews

I really enjoyed watching Jumping The Broom so much, I went to see it again. I want to see it four more times before it leaves the theater. The scenery of the Hamptoms was serene and pretty.
It's hard not to compare this film to a Tyler Perry film. It covers a lot of the same themes as Perry's films, as well as various styles (drama, slapstick comedy, etc.), and a lot of these actors have appeared in a few of his films. The difference between this and Perry's films is that this one doesn't play things as broad and doesn't try to cover nearly as much ground, and in that, it succeeds at being a pretty entertaining film.
Jumping The Broom tells the well worn story of two families from different sides of the tracks coming together for a wedding. You have a lot of the stock misunderstandings and disagreements that come with that, but this film does it in a very understated way. It doesn't beat you over the head like a Tyler Perry film would, letting the humor just happen as opposed to pushing it on you. The acting, overall, is excellent. And, as a bonus, no men dressed as women.
I was prepared to hate this romantic comedy but it was actually pretty decent and I had a good time watching it. The film was really romantic and even funny at times. I think it had to do a lot with excellent cast and overall great performances. I liked that the film focused on the characters and how humans react and interact with each other instead of trying to be constantly funny. I think that Loretta Devine was absolutely amazing in her role as a intrusive mother. The film was funny and really touching and emotional in the same time. I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters.
This is a comedy directed by Salim Akil and starring Paula Patton, Laz Alonso and Angela Bassett. I really liked this comedy and I recommend seeing it in the theaters. It was not very good or original but it was entertaining enough and the actors did a great job with their roles. Angela Basset was totally awesome as always and it is just so amazing to see how good she still looks, the women is a superhero to me. I thought that the film was really lively and fresh and everything portrayed seemed natural. Overall, I had fun watching it because it was light and the cast was great.
