Hah! This movie was corny, cheesy, stupid but it was actually funny! I laughed along with the rest of the theater and I especially cried on the part where The Rock shoots berries off his boobies!
That was hilarious. I didn't like Vanessa Hudgens though. Her acting is so fake. "PAPA!" Really? But other than the lack of acting talent in the movie it was funny. Even if a movie sucks the humor can definitely make up for it
I am writing this as a parent of two young girls, 8 and 5. I went to this movie having already read the reviews on this website. I didn't want to go, but I got voted down.
I was pleasantly surprised that this was actually a really good movie. Not sure why everybody disliked it so. The movie won't win any Oscars anytime soon, but I was entertained the entire time (something that almost NEVER happens in a kids movie). Bottom line: This movie is for kids and my girls loved it.
This movie was ridiculously silly and even if you have children and even if they are really young, I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. I could not believe how bad this film was, I mean I do not have high standards for movies like this one but this film surpassed my worst expectations. The film is uninspired and unfunny and I just felt bad for all the actors involved in this film, it was sad to watch Michael Caine and Luis Guzman waste their talent on this so called movie. There are many better films for children and I suggest you take your young ones to see something better than this.
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island is a kid films that seem made for kids with no attention spans at all. It's a lot of CGI and running around, with no time to focus on characters and story. It's not a bad movie, it's not a good movie. It's just there, and when it's over, it's gone from memory. While it's ostensibly a sequel to the Brendan Fraser starring Journey To The Center of the Earth, Fraser is nowhere to be found here, and the only connection is Josh Hutcherson, Sean from the first film. Here, he gets a message from his grandfather that the mysterious island of Jules Verne legend may have been found. With his stepfather, played by an always game Dwayne Johnson, a helicopter pilot played by Luis Guzman, and the always hot Vanessa Hudgens, they travel to the island, which is populated by mini elephants, giant bees, volcanoes, and all sort of 3-D craziness, and then try to get off the island, in some sort of strange, reverse Survivor. You know these people are never in any real danger, and takes away from a lot of the excitement. Johnson is fun to watch, and the goofy big guy act is for some reason still amusing, but no one else really has much to do. It's an innocuous enough time if you're a kid. If you're an adult, there's really not much going for you here.
This was a really bad family film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters because it will be a waste of your money and time. The film was not funny, not interesting and the acting was terrible. This film is strictly for the kids and I would say very young kids because the older one will find it stupid (as my brother did). The special effects in the film are pretty good but it can not compensate for the lack of energy and indifference. Anybody who have read Verne will be horrified and angered because this adaptation is so bad and unimaginative. Overall, I think there are better films for children that are out in the theaters and I suggest you take your kids to see something else than this silly movie.
This is an action/adventure film about a young boy who goes on a mission to find his grandfather who is missing in a mystical land, the film is directed by Brad Peyton and stars Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson and Michael Caine. I took my little niece to see this film and I thought it was alright for a movie for children, of course as an adult I had the worst time ever but I think children will be satisfied with it. The film lacked excitment and it was not funny at all even though it tried really hard to be (even my niece did not find it funny and almost everything makes her laugh). The actors in the film had no energy and it was very evident that nobody really cared about this project. I think this film was not worth the price of a movie ticket but if you have nothing else to do with your kid I guess this film will be alright.
