If you are looking for an action film that is purely there to entertain you, look no further, this film is for you. I love action films and Tom Cruise is definitely the king of these movies, he is in his late 40’s but the man still rocks and it is fun to watch him do his thing every time. The film has many flaws, it is predictable and feels a bit outdated and the dialogue is unintentionally funny, however it is very entertaining and fun to watch and that is what i was looking for when i went to see this film. The cast is absolutely amazing and they all definitely lift this film up. Overall, i thought it was a great action/thriller with a stellar cast and a great leading man that has enough charisma to make any movie appear amazing.

Outstanding movie. It is what it is, if you were expecting a Bergman deep, intellectually stimulating essay on what it means to be human, you must have gone to the wrong move.
Now, on the other hand, a macho, tough guy, protagonist against the odds, it was great.

LOVED this film....Tom Cruise plays his usual self, and yes, he delivers....very entertaining!

I am so tired of these kind of films. The plot is always the same, the violence is plenty and unnecessary and the is absolutely no message in this film. Yet I know that people will go and see this film anyway, it is truly a sad thing...Tom Cruise plays a hero once again and the film is completely delusional and unbelievable, it definitely crosses the line. The makers of this film obviously wanted to convince the audience that it is different but it is painfully obvious that this film is just like all other films of this genre. Tom Cruise can play this kind of character in his sleep and that is exactly what he does in this film. My boyfriend loved it but he loves any film that has explosions and unbelievable action shots (he is a very stereotypical man...) but I had a horrible time watching it, what a waste of my time!

It is yet another film with Tom Cruise, where he is playing a hero who s day and does absolutely impossible things. I knew what I was getting into when I went to see this film and I was not disappointed, this film gave me exactly what I was looking for. There were awesome car chases, pretty girls and great action, overall I was entertained. Do not see this film if you are looking for something more than pure entertainment, it was made purely for the purpose of exciting your senses and nothing more. Cruise is in his fifties but he still rocks pretty hard, even though it is not his finest work, I still enjoyed watching him kick some ass. Overall, it is a guy flick full of unbelievable action and cool cars and re looking for that, you will not be disappointed.

This movie, like its hero, is on a mission: to entertain, and this it does wildly well. I love the whole idea of a renegade hero who just travels from location to location and cleans up the messes that law enforcement has failed to take care of. Then there's the whole notion of breaking the law for the good of the community which is an old theme in such movies. I hope that Tom Cruise gets the credit he deserves for making and starring in this movie, which solely belongs to him. He really gets the action right, and he underplays the part to just the right degree which makes it all believable. He also has ample chemistry with his co-stars Rosamund Pike (who we're used to seeing in independent movies) and Robert Duvall (who has officially crossed into Brando territory). I wouldn't be surprised if this one is just successful enough to warrant a sequel in Christmas 2014. Do see it and enjoy!

So, at current time of writing "Jack Reacher" has a positive rating on RottenTomatoes of 70% which I think is about right. Yeah, I agree, there are more holes than can be counted in the film's plot. I also agree that Tom Cruise is probably the wrong choice for the lead...if you are a literary purist. Since I am NOT, the movie was actually pretty darned enjoyable. I think that for those of us who are sick of "human dramas" and "feel good xmas movies" still enjoy watching an old fashioned good guys versus bad guys flick which gets the blood pumping. Maybe I'm suffering from an overdose of testosterone, but one of the things I don't like about this time of the year is the way Hollywood goes all mushy and wishy washy because "it's the holidays" and "people want to feel warm and ooey gooey". Not so much, I'd say. Howsabout a Santa who doesn't just deliver the booty but kicks it too? "Bad Santa" is a classic, I think, and I'd like to see an action-y Santa now: adults like inovative holidays movies too!

Oh, come on! Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher?? Really? u must be joking, Batman, because he is TOTALLY The wrong person to cast in this role. First of all, he's just not physically right - at all!!! He's just too darn small and short. The character is supposed to be 6'5" - you heard me: SIX FOOT FIVE INCHES!!! And they get Tom Cruise?? Geez, they could have done better with a slightly beefed up Ben Affleck or Ryan Gosling! Also, he's way too old to be playing the part! He's like what, past 50 now? Shouldn't he be playing the roles that Tom Hanks was playing 5 years ago? Someone at Paramount needs to tell Jerry Maguire that his, um, Jerry Maguire days are hella over - YESTERDAY! The movie also had like no sense of direction. At one point it just became another good guy versus bad guy movie with lots of guns. After what happened in Newtown, I think we're all ready to say that such scenes should be totally curtailed and maybe we should glamorize PEACE instead of VIOLENCE. Hear, hear!!!!

This movie is definitely not as good as the Mission: Impossible movies. It's sort of the same in some ways, but very different in other basic ways. I like how Tom Cruise has totally nailed the part with his natural acting, though I never read the book it's based on and I don't know if he was the right choice for the character. Some of my friends who have read the original say that Hugh Jackman or The Rock would have been a better choice. I don't know much about Rosamund Pike who plays his love interest but she seems to be a good actress.I also liked Robert Duvall in the movie which is to be expected. He is always a superbly dependable actor and I think he should get lead roles. Why is he always given supporting old man roles? He deserves so much more, as do audiences. I think Hollywood should expect this one to do okay, but it won't be a mega hit like the MI's.

Once upon an 80s time, I was a teenage girl with a HUGE embarrassing crush on Tom Cruise. He then became a gallant gentleman in his 30s and my crush grew even bigger. Then, in his 40s, something happened and he went (as my teen would say) "totes bananas". Remember the whole thing of him jumping up and down on Oprah's couch? Remember all the awful things he said about Brooke Shields? And remember the leaked stories about him "auditioning" actresses to be his wife?
Well, all of that has taken a toll on my love for Tommy Cruise. He was so sweet and affable back in the day when Rosie O'Donnell would gush over him with "Tommy Can You Hear Me" playing on her digicard. Now I just can't seem to separate the actor from the persona. He's just too crazy for me! And this movie does nothing to rehabilitate him in my eyes. Strictly average standard movie hero stuff here. He should move on to dramas. At least there you can play crazy and win Oscars.
