I actually liked this film and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. It is not your usual horror flick, it is kind of old-fashioned with geeky characters that do not seem to belong in the film but somehow they got stuck there. I think it is interesting that the director made a horror film that scares you not with ghosts but more with an idea that some people live in a horror film everyday and have no way to escape it (being stuck in a dead end job). I think that the film has a great atmosphere and interesting ideas. People who are expecting a regular horror film will probably not like this movie but if you are looking for something different then look no further.
I kind of liked this film but I do not think it is worth the price of the movie ticket and you will be better off renting it when it comes out on DVD. The scares in the film were kind of simple but I did not mind that, it is a nice change from all the gore I have been seeing lately in horror films. The film has some old fashioned charm and humor as well which was a nice and interesting mix. I like how the film looks and the camera work was absolutely beautiful and overall the film is made with a very distinctive style. The film is kind of slow but I think it is how the director wanted it to be and it works for this film.
I am so sick of films like this one and I think it would be a waste of your time and your money if you saw it in theaters so i do not recommend that. There are couple of scary moments but they are too far in between and the film is way too long. I did like the setting of the film and the characters were pretty great but everything else kind of fell apart and I did not enjoy the film overall. I am not a fan of slow films and this one was definitely much too slow for my taste, in the same time I bet some people will love that aspect of it. Overall, I think the film is not wort the price of movie ticket.
This is a horror film about Yankee Pedlar Inn and two employees who are determined to unlock its secrets, the film is directed by Ti West and stars Sara Paxton, Pat Healy and Kelly McGillis. I kind of liked this film and if you are looking for a good horror film then look no further. The film was scary and funny in the same time and I enjoyed that weird combination. Director Ti West is a master of slow boiling indie horror film and he sure did not disappoint me with this film. The film is not full of scares but when they come they are very effective and chilly, I left the theater a bit spooked. The characters in the film are interesting and well developed which is so rare in horror film and that is what makes this film different and great.
