Might have walked in the first five minutes, but chose to hang with it.
Usually don't do well with films that feature characters whose mental
abilities lack any common sense, but what we were dealing with here
was an entire cast of the deeply undereducated, unconscious, ugly, and, at best, manipulative bunch maybe ever assembled on film.
Without spilling the story line, it was difficult to imagine the serious chain of stupidity this tale was want to impose. I was taken to a new level of incredulousness.
The fact that this was based on true events emphasizes the complete lack of awareness that pervades not just the outskirts of San Antonio, Texas, but also (if it can be believed) of the inept processing by police and child services worldwide.
There is a slight twist at the end that may somewhat compensate for the general lack of intelligence portrayed in this film, but not enough to
recommend it—unless, of course, one is mesmerized by the incompetency of others.
Other takes may see more depth. That conversation might be more interesting than the movie itself.

I loved this film and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters, I can guarantee that you will have a great time watching this film. If this film was not based on a true story it would probably be less impressive but it is based on true events and that is just mind blowing and jaw dropping. The film leaves you uneasy and definitely fascinated and extremely compelling. The director managed to take a very interesting and insane story and make it even better and that is a true example of a real talent. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole film and had an amazing time time watching this film.

I really liked this film and highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. The film was very interesting and gripping and I was on the edge of my seat for the most of the time. I could not believe that the story is actually real and that made this film even more awesome, strange and scary. The film is very suspenseful and it also will make you think, I could not stop talking about this film for weeks. The film has great twists and turns and you never really know what is coming and what is true and what is false. The film is also beautifully shot and very well researched and that makes it a great docudrama. Overall, i had a blast watching this film and i think it is definitely worth seeing in the theaters.

It's pretty hard to review this movie without giving it away, but let's just say that this movie has to be seen to be believed. I am still kind of amazed that anything even remotely close to what happens in the movie could have been real, it's just too far fetched. But then that's what makes the movie so intriguing. This is not just a movie that you watch, you become slowly addicted to it as it continues until you have the perfect mix of real life interviews and a mystery noir-ish tale that leaves the hairs on your neck standing. Don't be fooled, though: this is not a typical horror story, even though what happens in the movie is pretty freakin scary. It jolts you our of your comfort zone and makes you wonder if anything you know is real, no joke. This is the kind of movie that gets you to have long and deep discussions with your friends about the nature of truth and reality, so get ready to talk your lips off when you see it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes unusual movies.

Let me just say it for you: this is THE movie of the summer! And to think it doesn't have any major stars or comic book villains or CGI. Don't walk, RUN to the theater to see this absolutely fascinating and totally off the wall doc**entary style thriller that makes you wonder why we believe the things that we believe. A young boy goes missing in America only to turn up alive but bruised and injured in Europe some years later. But is it him? The all-american kid with blonde hair and blue eyes now has brown hair and brown eyes...and he speaks with a French accent. He has probably been tortured and abused, but is that reason enough to believe he could change so much? The most fascinating thing about this movie is how the family comes to terms with the return of their son and why they opened him with such open arms when there were so many doubts. It's a stunning movie, one that will have you thinking about obsessing over the family at the center of the story for days to come. CHILLING!

My boyfriend and I were sick of all the superhero movies this summer so we decided to see this doc**entary - good call, bf! This is one of the most interesting and bizarre but still fascinating movies I have seen in like ages. I just couldn't stop thinking about it after we got home, it just kept racing in my head like over and over! It starts out as a doc**entary but then it becomes this kind of psychological thriller where you don't know what's real and what's fake and what makes people do the totally bs crazy things that they do! A guy who claims to be a Texas family's long lost son ends up in their home again but they have their doubts. There's too much about him that's different and still they want to believe that they have their son back. It's both jolting and sad that this could be true but I guess some stories have to be heard to be believed. This isn't a family movie but it's a great flick to catch with your lovie or your posse - you will have tons and tons to say to each other after, I guarantee it.

Holy bajeezus, this is one HELLUVA movie that you have to see to believe! I was hooked about 10 minutes in, I just couldn't stop watching it with white hot concentration, it's just so addictive. It's about a kid who vanishes from San Antonio and then ends up being found a few years later in Europe. His sister goes to bring him home but then the family begins to think that he's changed in ways that just don't add could their son have changed so much? The boy was obviously tortured by his kidnappers, which makes this kind of a suspense thriller....except that it's a true story! That's what will have you up in your seat for the whole movie - you just can't believe that this could be a true story! But I guess that old saying that "Truth is stranger than fiction" is true after all. I'm not sure if the whole thing is what happened in real life, but you won't care when watching it. You won't want it to end.

I heard that this is based on a true story and at first while I was watching it I thought it was a doc**entary. But I guess it has been embellished and made up in parts to make it more exciting than the real story was. I was kind of shocked at the mother in the story because she seems to think that the teen who comes knocking on her door after years is her son when she should have known better. I guess I just didn't believe that a mother wouldn't know her own child after worrying about him for years and then getting reunited with him all of a sudden out of the blue. As a parent, there's nothing worse than imagining you could lose your child, but to lose them and then gain them back would be a dream come true. This turns out to be a horrifying nightmare and I wish they wouldn't advertise it a true story. As a mother, I just didn't buy part of the story that you have to believe to get hooked. My kids, however, loved it. Go fig.

Wow Wow WOW!!! This is one those movies that you just HAVE to see. I have a feeling this is going to be a cult hit like The Blair Witch Project which everyone is going to see thanks to word of mouth recommendations. The story is so unbelievable that if you saw it in a movie you would think there's no way that this could happen in real life - except that it did happen in real life! That's the shocking part - and you will have to see it to believe it. It's based on the real life story of a boy from Texas who goes missing one day and then ends up reappearing in the south of Spain. His family brings him back home but then they begin to wonder what happened to him - he looks a bit different and talks with an accent and soon they think that this may not be their son after all. It's pretty shocking what happens in the end so I won't give it away, but suffice is to say, you won't forget this movie any time soon after seeing it. A total and absolute MUST SEE.
